It seems to be a among the most significant underlying conditions for Covid effects.
I think the point the other poster makes is that when extremely common ailments like hypertension (which affect 1/3 of all American adults) are among the "underlying conditions" it kind of dilutes the impact of even saying "underlying conditions"

I mean.....I’m certainly not a doctor or a statistician so I’m not sure what the proper course would be I guess if enough of the population has an underlying condition that means the condition should be treated as Normal basically?
Honestly I want to say it’s still a unique condition and many who have it have earned it by living an unhealthy lifestyle so tough shite on them but I know that not everyone who has it is a fat POS so that’s not really fair and certainly isn’t the “nice” way of handling things
Btw I say this as a fat guy with hypertension in my family history so I know it could be me any day now

Pre-existing condition data is relevant relative to its prominence in the general population:
Consider this hypothetical:
% of Covid deaths with hypertension: 50%
% of US adults with hypertension: 40%
% of Covid deaths with Colombian Rectal Scabies: 1%
% of US adults with Colombian Rectal Scabies: 0.1%
Hypertension would be the most common pre-existing condition by by far, but it’s not notable (only +25% risk relative to how common the disease is). Baws with Colombian Rectal Scabies though, getting hammered (+900% risk compared to how common the disease is).

The walk in clinic where we live is doing IGG antibody testing ... I asked what test it was and they could only tell me that it was being processed by Lab Corp. Any way to know short of calling Lab Corp? Anyone have any knowledge about this? Thanks. We think our daughter may have had it in mid February and she's interested in taking the test
I found this on the Lab Corp website: "These tests have not been reviewed by the FDA but are being offered by LabCorp in accordance with the public health emergency guidance issued by the FDA on March 16."

She’s got some other blood work or be done on Friday so she said she wants to. She said she wants to be able to hug her friends and have no worries for anyone. lol.

I am doing great btw. My owner cut back a lot of my mandatory overtime when he had to write me a weekly check of 2300 bucks. I have a persistent cough but I was warned that it might happen by my doctor upon my release. My coworkers avoid me like the plague even though we are all required to wear n95 masks on the job sites. The family is doing well. I still appreciate you guys supporting me when my anxiety was through the roof when I was hospitalized. You guys have no idea how much it helped. I would be crying myself to sleep and many a night you guys made me feel so much better and cared about.

I've got another friend who was in your situation ... he told me that his fingers were turning blu-ish but he never went to the hospital nor did his wife insist.
Glad I only talked to him once he was better or I'd have driven 3 hours to haul him to the ER. He's better but still has the cough as well. He's a pilot and thinks that he got it flying. Go figure.

Some 41 staffers have tested positive as well. When people talk about a 2nd wave, they need to understand that many vectors of transmission have substantial immunity built up.

Two thirds with no symptoms. What is it going to take for us to completely reboot our approach to this? It is becoming clearer by the day that this is everywhere and that the vast majority of those who have it don't even know it.

If you really want to see the negative governmental effects of this, look at Maine.
The state is now on an indefinite lockdown.
They have had less than 60 deaths total and only have about 30 people hospitalized.
Pretty much all of society is in agreement that politicians are either crooks or morons, yet people still thought it was a good idea to go down this road.

Nursing homes especially have been absolutely hammered. 67% of all covid deaths in PA are from nursing homes. 50% of deaths in Europe from them. If we can get these areas under control we should be able to lower the deaths rates significantly even with slowly opening things up.

The US IHME projection is now at 134K deaths by August. They’re factoring social distancing even more into their formulas
