Just thought I would pop in and say that I being retested today at 9am because I am doing well enough to go to work if I test negative. I think the virus is whipped and I expect a negative test. I am so ready to leave the freaking house. Also anxious to donate my plasma.

To a certain extent...my issues lie more so with local govts and picking winners and losers
But the time for lockdown has passed... there are way too many places barely scathed by this. frick, if you take NYC out of the equation or even just make their numbers on par with other major cities (LA, SF, Hou) this virus is almost half of what it is.

Yep. If you take away all the places where the virus is killing a lot of people, then it really isn't killing very many people.

To think we didn't hear chatter on the wire early on is naive. The NSA is so deep in digital monitoring that it's almost impossible that alarm bells didn't start going off at Ft. Meade as digital scanners started picking up medical data in China. Whether that message was relayed up the flagpole is another question, but someone in or working for our government knew about this long before word got out of China.

If our government had immediately levied a two trillion dollar tax to pay for this "stimulus" (so far, more to come) instead of having the federal reserve create that amount out of thin air in the last month, then economic costs would suddenly be a much bigger part of the discussion. Instead, we've come to view debt monetization as a free lunch which obviates the need to consider real economic costs in any decision making process.
And if people were explicitly told (and understood) how dependent we've become on just in time global supply chains that are currently faltering all the way back to base material production, they would be clamoring to open this back up ASAP. But for some reason, these things are seldom discussed and never emphasized by our otherwise strident and emphatic news media, and that's the most worrisome thing of all.

You just accepted an anonymous source defining when the alarm bells started going off and when that was picked up and reported on by our intelligence organizations. And ignored the other side of that story, which was that the director of that agency broke protocol and publicly denied that story because he said it was important to be transparent during this episode.
I don't know the truth, but I know now who is speaking transparently and who is using unnamed sources. I also know that I haven't seen any convincing evidence that this was well underway or even identified as a novel virus far enough back to accept the story as proof of anything. I try to consider all of those factors before I form my opinions about what happened and when. So which of us is being naive?
