In all seriousness, we had a 42-year-old healthcare worker found dead in her home just a few days after coming down with symptoms. She apparently never felt bad enough to seek help and then drops dead. With her toddler in the house. So it’s not a stretch, really. I know all of us are just ecstatic to know you’re going to be okay. Keep it up.

Yes, it is saying the peak for ICU/general bed shortage was on 4/1

Yeah, the wife and kids tested positive too. I was told I would be quarantined to the house for two weeks and then retested. I didn't even consider that my family being sick may affect whether I can be around them. I would think it's all good since we are all sick at the same time. I got it from my oldest daughter and then my family got it from me. I will certainly ask the doctor about it but I doubt very seriously that I could be reinfected by one of them if I am negative on my way out.

So we went from 0 patients at my nursing home with symptoms to have 4 positive tests over the weekend. With another 4 having symptoms but not requiring hospitalization yet so their tests will take more time to confirm.

I do think these tests are valuable and I don't think hundreds of millions have had it. But I'd like to see widespread testing done in a fairly major metropolitan area to see how the results compare.

Its official. Going home. The doctor is doing the paperwork now. I called my mom and she is leaving work to come pick me up. Doctor said to self quarantine at home and that going home to other covid positive people won't hurt or change anything. He said that once I test negative that he doubts very seriously that I could be reinfected especially this close to having it. I am to report to a local doctor to be tested in two weeks. Right now, I am ok with staying home for as long as it takes. I just want to be with my family. Sounds like our governor has shut things down anyway.
The only issue I will be facing is that my wife smokes. I have decided to quit and haven't had one in the two weeks of hospitalization. I don't want to be an a-hole to her but she is gonna have to go smoke on the porch. I don't want to see her smoke and it cause cravings for me. I asked my mom to stop by CVS and pick up a box of nicotine patches for me.
Thanks for all the support during this. It really did give me strength during the times of mental struggle. The staff here at BMC in Birmingham have also been top notch.

happy for you man. I'm glad you went to the hospital, I like to think our suggestions tilted your judgement.
this is a fantastic idea but you really are going to have to get her onboard to quit with you or it's gonna be a tough row to hoe.

1) did they do an autopsy?
2) this surely is an exception right? Still obviously sad and horrible.

That's an option but it's not ideal is my best guess. Patients who are on a vent in critical condition may not absorb or metabolize the drug the drug as well or at the same rate as healthier patients taking it by mouth. Would the choice of solvent affect drug availability? Those things could make blood levels more variable, which would impact toxicity and efficacy. Pharmacokinetic studies for most drugs are done under the conditions they'll be used, so data probably lacking for doing it that way in that population.

there is no way to give hcq IV. crush it and put it per ng tube is only option.
