We literally don’t know the scale of the crisis or the fallout of decisions to be able call it inept.

I think it’s cute how you keep projecting US societal expectations on an centrally controlled authoritarian Chinese government.
if only they could use the powers of a nation state to arrange transit....in like a truck across town.

I guess you're correct. The US wouldn't have jailed those pesky journalists, doctors, and citizens who tried to warn everyone about the crisis nearly as quickly as China did.

China is not the US and the people are accustomed to following very different government protocols. Patients are showing up where the government tells them to and doctors will treat or not treat them according to government mandates.
I’m not downplaying this situation but this hospital is about having an isolated facility for quarantined treatment that can serve more patients. So, yes, it increases capacity for treatment but it’s also about containment. Slackster isn’t wrong.

The Chinese government are communist assholes but you also wouldn’t have seen the complete isolation of cities and travel restrictions here like you have there. Mostly because of, you know, freedom.

What if they didn’t stifle the story until they were prepared to lock down the region?
Then you’ll be bitching about the 10 million+ allowed to leave instead of the 5

One of the perks of a centralized authoritarian government that’s been engrained into people. Not to mention the Chinese as a people are more collective and less individualistic as a breed.

I'd rather have a transparent government, competent policymakers, and well-supported medical professionals who don't have to rely on bribes to make a decent living.
Also, let's not glorify the "isolation of cities and travel restrictions." This isolation is only occurring because corrupt government officials refused to acknowledge the problem in the first place. Journalists have already well established that the regional government in Hubei had several weeks to act, and a variety of political pressures compelled them to pretend that nothing terrible was happening. And at this point, just about every medical professional who understands the crisis is saying that the isolation is too little, too late. Person to person transmission is already present in every Chinese city.
Anyone who understands the deeply regional politics of China knows that this isolation isn't being done to protect average Chinese citizens. If the Chinese government truly cared about its citizens, it would have blocked off travel to Hong Kong several days ago. The isolation is to protect monied interests in Beijing and Shanghai and convey the impression that the government is in control.
