A 16-year-old boy was shot and killed late Wednesday night after he argued with his mother and stepfather about leaving their southwest Atlanta home during a shelter-in-place order, police said.

The boy’s stepfather, 42-year-old Bernie Hargrove, was arrested on a charge of felony murder after the shooting at the home on Lisbon Drive. The boy’s mother told investigators they wanted him to remain inside due to concerns about the coronavirus, but he went against their wishes, according to an Atlanta police spokesman.

“Later, the victim returned to the home and kicked in the door to the house where a physical fight began between the suspect and the victim,” police spokesman Officer Steve Avery said in a statement. “During that altercation the victim was shot.”

The 16-year-old, identified by police as De’onte Roberts, was shot in the chest and taken to Grady Memorial Hospital, where he later died.

Here come the self defense claims.

The way the media reports on Covid, you might be able to see their side of it even.

Could a proper fitting mask or bandanna have prevented this death? We may never know.

I didn’t pass the bar in other states but in California misdemeanor murder is when a person of color kills a white.

Maybe a different color bandana would have saved him. Red vs. blue is a serious matter in the hood.

No. Since when there is death there is no brain function..which means no ability to learn.

But....

It wasn't an instant death so he still had brain function until he died at the hospital.

Yeah, but did he ever actually say, you and step daddy were right, I should have stayed at home. And if he didn't say it out loud, I bet a little voice inside his thick head thought maybe staying home like mama said, probably was a better idea than getting shot in the chest after kicking the door in. shite, I guess he forgot about the key under the potted plant in the side yard.
