In the happiest place on earth.

In what is being referred to as “probably the most embarrassing things seen in the department” an undercover unit disguised as drug dealers in Detroit were mistaken by another group of officers to be actual drug dealers during a raid.
Detroit chief of police James Craig made the comment about an incident that took place in which body cam footage has been recently released. Detroit’s 12th precinct on the east side sent in two undercover officers as drug dealers for some “buy and busts.” The buyers approached what they thought was a drug den, but was actually controlled by undercover police from Detroit’s 11th district.
What followed was a potentially deadly comedy of errors.
A body camera captured the entire mess as the officers began throwing fists at each other. Guns were drawn and police ordered each other to the ground. The violent confrontation witnessed by neighbors involved over two dozen officers.
“They appeared to be like Keystone cops,” Craig said, making a reference to the wacky police force depicted in silent comedy films.
Craig has said the incident will now be under investigation.

what "criminal" charges could they file?

Barney Fife would be proud. He always seemed to arrest the undercover cop.

I'm not a big fan of police selling you illegal services and then arresting you for them. I'm not sure if it's the actual definition of entrapment but it just never sat right with me.

That may seem funny but they're very lucky nobody was shot.

It isn't. Entrapment happens when LEO persuades you do so something illegal that you otherwise would not have done. If you were going to buy drugs anyway and just didn't know you were buying from a cop, that isn't entrapment.
Entrapment - you're just standing somewhere random minding your own business and a cop approaches you with "Hi there! You look like you might want some drugs. Do you?"
Not entrapment - you go up to a shady person and ask for some drugs, and he turns out to be a cop.

All using taxpayer money.
Really, really wish they would have had a shootout. Two pigs with one stone.

Like when they leave a fancy bike out in the hood with no lock on it then arrest people who steal it?

That's about what I'd assumed. Either way I'm not a fan of legislating morales when there's no direct victim.

selling drugs is a crime and illegal, it doesnt matter if cops do it just to arrest people, if they sold drugs they need to be arrested and put in jail for the exact same number of years they put others in jail for selling the same drugs.
its not "not illegal" just because its the cops commiting the crime because its for a good reason to arrest bad guys
