Police say officers assisting Child Protective Services workers Wednesday were unable to find the children inside the Flint home, about 50 miles northwest of Detroit. Authorities have not said why the children were being removed.
WNEM reports that officers looked outside the home and found the girls in the luggage. They are listed in good condition at a hospital. Police did not provide their names or ages.
Police say the mother apparently ran away, but was arrested and is being evaluated at a hospital. Police say she has a history of mental illness.
Other children were reportedly found inside the home.

No one said it did.
It certainly does explain why she put the kids in a suitcase by the trash.
She's crazy as frick and should've been given help years ago probably. Same root cause as mass shooters, but no one is going to blame suitcase manufacturers for this one.

shite like this makes me more angry than anything. Now the kids will end up in foster care and separated. Probably better off, but still...
My wife bakes birthday cakes in her spare time for foster care kids. Hearing each of the kids individual stories can make the strongest grown man cry.

yep. my wife used to live in a gentrified part of nashville and her 9yo daughter made many friends from that area that we have over to our house any time we can. these are good kids in unfortunate environments.
she told me some truly awful stories about that neighborhood and how she'd hit little ceasars once a week or so and buy like 6 $5 pizzas and all the kids would come over; for most of them that was the best meal they had eaten in the last 7 days.
eta of course the parents/guardians/whatevers have plenty of EBT and other opportunities to feed these kids; they just DONT frickING CARE.
