Cops choke man for smiling in his mugshot

A Texas inmate is suing the Harris County sheriff’s department after deputies tried choking the smile off his face while snapping his mugshot.
Christopher Johnson was ridiculed and insulted for smiling during his photo after he was arrested on July 25, 2015 and charged with drunken driving.
“Take the picture right,” a deputy said several times, according to KTRK. “Man, stop smiling!”
Johnson stuck to his grin, telling officers that he takes all his photos with a big smile.
That’s when deputies started choking Johnson for at least 30 seconds to take the mugshot, but he still managed to smile for the picture, while officers were throttling his neck.
The Harris County Sheriff’s department has no policy against smiling during mugshots, public information officer Ryan Sullivan told the Daily News.
“It is not uncommon for detention personnel to assist impaired or uncooperative detainees during the booking photo process,” Sullivan said in a statement.
In Johnson’s police report, deputies said the smiling man was “uncooperative.”

There are laws in place to have a person arrested for physically attacking another person.

That man is going to smile all the way to the bank. His rights were violated and jus mug shot will be the face of overcoming police brutality.

The Harris county jail was one of the most brutal jails in the country until recently. That is not the place to frick up. It's full of sadistic guards who have nothing better to do than beat your arse. Then let you sit in your blood/vomit for the next twelve to fourteen hours. It's not nearly as bad as it was but it's probably still pretty bad.
