I'm not sure where he got that from. I just went throughthe story again and this is all it says....

quote:

In July this year, the San Diego District Attorney dropped felony charges against Hahn for battery on a police officer and resisting arrest – which her attorney Mark Geragos says was due to the video.
However, she is going ahead with the lawsuit due to the ‘senseless act of egregious police brutality’ and wants the police officers involved fired and reformed. Court documents alleged that they lied about the incident under oath during Hahn’s criminal proceedings.

maybe that's what he's talking about.

I misread. They were not charged. Being accused, which is nothing. Still, if there was cause, the DA would not be dropping this.

It was that sentence Darth highlighted. My bad.

Yeah...hopefully they now understand the importance of education so they don't wind up being some femme with an inferiority complex who has to resort to blasting some woman in the face because they can't handle their business.

Agreed. Don't question the cops, don't disrespect them, and always obey them. It's a simple education really. If you decide to not follow these rules, well Darwinism catches up with all criminals eventually.

honestly, how many beatdowns by cops have occurred because the person being pulled over/questioned was polite and respectful?

seems lots of people like to make a name for themselves by taunting the cops and having a buddy record the aftermath.

I know, right? Stupid SJW's on this board have no idea how many haymakers a good mom can take before causing any real damage.

Seems like, if a manager at a college cafeteria can handle himself while being insulted by a drunk punk, then cops should be able to as well.

Hopefully the message will get through to the younger generation that police are not to be questioned, disrespected, or disobeyed. Cross the line, and you get a couple of haymakers to the face, mom's aren't exempt.

Responses like this (and there have been many in this thread) truly frighten me. It seems like some of y'all wish we lived in a totalitarian state. So a cop pulls me over for speeding when I'm not over the limit and I can't question the accuracy of his assertion and just have to take the ticket?

If she got physical with the officer, then fine, take the bitch down. But if she was just being argumentative, the cop shouldn't escalate the situation. I'm sick of people defending cops who overreact to their authority being questioned. I honestly don't want to live in a country where tax paying citizens can be assaulted, wrongfully arrested or murdered for disrespecting some dude who got all Cs in high school and had few friends.

What causes some posters to just assume the cop's actions were justified? What would the rest of the video have shown? That the fat mom was mouthy? So now we're ok with everyone who is a dick or a bitch being arrested and beaten? Half this board is in for a world of hurt if that's the case.

Hope she learned a valuable lesson and that is to always wear your seat belt especially when in a car with your children. She will remember this lesson for a long time

thats like, your opinion man.

cops are trying to do their JOB and the person they stop is actively RESISTING.

big difference in that and a drunk college student yelling at a fast food worker because he wants jalapeno fries.

BIG difference.

I get what you're saying, but this just sounds like you're OK with cops using physical force just because someone is being an a-hole. If you or I do that, we face criminal and civil liability. Cops just get away with it?

I have gathered the facts, read all statements and watched the video.

My verdict is; The woman deserved the punch due to resisting and being a little sh*t. And she should be wearing her seatbelt in the first place. The charges should have stuck and I would've sent the cops on their merry way.

let me know how that strategy works out for you.

i've found the opposite to be true. if i'm not a smartass, cops are generally pretty cool.

i hope Five0 weighs in on this thread.

You can definitely tell how old posters are in these threads. The younger ones are getting all fired up about it while the older ones are stoically dead on the inside and don't care.

cops are TRAINED to do this. they are told that if the situation starts to escalate and they dont know if the person is drunk, high or getting ready to reach for a gun, knife or baseball bat as they become increasingly agitated..they do what they need to do to neutralize the situation.

i see no problem with that.

eta there are probably just as many videos out there of cops who were too "nice" and ended up getting shot or run over.

a cop NEVER knows what is going to happen when he pulls over a person driving erratically.

Not much of that applies to this scenario. It was a seatbelt violation. The only thing the cop needs to do is write the ticket, give it to her, and ask if she understands. Beyond that, to engage in any of her mouthy bullshite is pathetic on the cops part.

He may be able to claim that he has a right to respond, apprehend, or otherwise engage her, but we all know he doesn't have to.
