If you are getting beaten into unconsciousness you'll likely be ok other than knowing you shot someone

if you're that stupid, then go for it. Enjoy your manslaughter charge

Pretty pathetic for a cop to get his arse kicked like that by a guy who was blacked out drunk. If you can't detain a drunk without shooting them, you are probably not cut out to be a cop.

That situation seemed like a baton/mace/taser would have done the job.

That cop was pretty quick on the trigger, seems like a pussy. If your a cop why evolve with the violence of the perp. If he starts fighting you it's either you or him so use extreme force(baton, taser, mace) but don't shoot an unarmed man.

The cop was not looking for a fight...this isn't a MMA match. Why would he just accept that he is all the sudden in a fair fistfight?

I think the majority of cops are douchebags but to suggest if you start hitting a cop in the face he should just accept this as a fight he has to engage in and the criminal sets the standards....that is completely stupid.

The real issue is why is he getting his arse kicked by a guy who is hammered? Don't they teach you to defend yourself at the academy?

The idiot standing there filming distracted him just enough to let the other guy get the upper hand.

I'm not sure why anyone is surprised by the outcome, frankly. Take a look at how many cops get disarmed and killed with their own weapon. This guy wasn't taking any chances and I don't blame him.

It should also be noted that he tried to assist giving first aid to the guy he shot. Some are acting like this was some type of execution.

No. They teach only dog shooting and how to violate the Constitutional rights of the general public.

What I've learned from this thread is Cpt. Bengal is a truly clueless individual. Yes, he was working a private security detail, but more then likely all those are approved through his dept, and he's acting as a officer of the law while on those details. If he sees a crime taking place, he has a duty to act and respond...He's still a uniformed police officer.

If you can't defend yourself you shouldn't be a cop plain and simple.

No was getting the shite beaten out of him because he couldn't defend himself. Which resulted in him shooting the guy. If he was able to defend himself he wouldn't have needed to shoot the guy.

Apparently you don't understand what the word defend means.

Seems like if he wouldn't have tried to knee the guy he was trying to arrest in the head - while the guy was facing away - he wouldn't have been put in the position to get his arse handed to him in the fight.

This is what escalated the fight. The fireman was resisting being cuffed, the cop jumped on his back with his knee.

And for those saying the off duty fireman wasn't drunk..

At the time of the autopsy, Bruno's blood alcohol level was determined to be .21 percent; for scale, the legal driving limit is .08.

Trying to defend this idiot who attacked a police officer makes the outcry over actual police brutality cases seem less legitimate.

at some of you in this thread.
