That was awesome. It says leg injury in the video description but judging by what's blurred out it looks like the damn thing took off half his leg. Still better than being dead though!

ETA: Found in another article

quote:

As they both fell back, the train still hit the bottom of the man’s legs — but he was saved from certain death, Lodi police said.

Am I crazy to think that if I was stuck in a wheelchair but could use my arms that I would fall off the wheelchair and use my arms to crawl away from the damn train? I know he was old but goodness.

Maybe he was stopped on the tracks on purpose.

Why was he on the tracks in that particular spot to begin with?

This might have been a suicide attempt unfortunately. Still most people who survive or are rescued from suicide attempts regret their decision and thank those who helped them.

Sidenote: my great grandfather was killed by a train. He was really old and used the tracks to walk into town so he wouldn't get lost (I guess streets confused him and tracks only go one way). When he lost his hearing, he would only go in the mid afternoon because there were only two scheduled trains - one in the morning and one in the evening. One day the rail company sent an extra train at midday and he was walking along the track, deaf as a doornail.

That was incredible. Nice work officer. She pulled that guy with swiftness; lucky, he wasn't strapped in with a seatbelt or chest harness because that's an electric wheelchair.

Look like an electric wheel chair and just crossing them normally? I'm guessing a wheel got stuck while crossing them which I can definitely see happening.
