The police has every moral right and duty to maintain order in a just society. These protestors were being disorderly and disrupting the affairs of their citizens and placing an undue burden on them by impeding their right to free movement and travel.

As soon as the cops showed up at the scene they should have given the protesters a warning, 30 seconds to disperse and leave the highway or you will be tazed.
