That is awesome. I wish I could go back that far. History and personal Ancestry are the most interesting topics to me

This random rooster statue in Downtown Shreveport belongs to my grandfather. He put it up across from a building he owns about 3 years ago.

I'm directly descended from George Read, one of the signers of the Declaration of Independence. He was a delegate from Delaware.

One of my cousins on my maternal grandfather's side did an incredible family tree thing that went all the way back to the 1600's when my ancestors arrived from England. It has a few photos in there. One of the photos is of my great great grandmother. I can't tell if she is black or Indian. Family suspects that she was from the Notoway tribe of Virginia (their chief looks like my uncle), but her name was Lucretia (clearly an Afro-American name). I'll probably dig up the folder and post the picture on here and let the OT decide.
On my maternal grandmother's side, I'm related to Ethan Allen and somehow Benedict Arnold (probably bullshite).

My parents claim I am a descendant of this guy who signed it, but I don't know if I believe that.

My great great grandfather was responsible for holding the statue of Robert E. Lee in Lee Circle upright. He was assigned with a group of guys to hold the statue upright using ropes. While they were out there, a huge thunderstorm rolled through. All the guys except my great great grandfather ran for cover. My gg grandfather was able to hold the statue up enough to prevent damage.

I'll also add that my wife's grandfather was a police captain in BR and states, as fact, that Huey Long's assassination was by a bodyguard and that he has a bullet.
