My family was kicked out of France for being loyalist from the Bordeaux region of the country. Moved to land on Dominican Republic and raised sugar until the Maroon slave rebellion of 1791. Chartered a ship to NOLA and freed men of color who were loyal during the rebellion. Moved on to South Carolina and then eventually some migrated back to Louisiana. A baseball stadium is named after family at a college in the state.

That's pretty cool. I'm a direct descendant of Robert the Bruce on my dads side. I think he's a 24th great-grandfather. He's my wife's 27th great grandfather. His great-grandson, John Robert Stewart lll, had several daughters, Princess Mary Stewart was my great grandmother and Princess Margaret Stewart was my wife's great grandmother

my great grandfather was one of only 2 people to ever escape a certain prison in the old country. He was thrown in prison for cursing Mohammad in a public place where muslims evidently had no sense of humor. He was a minority Christian. Never heard the actual story of how he made the escape though.

A relative way back on my dad's side owned a incredibly successful slave plantation. They didn't do well with crops, but made a killing with slaves.

One of the slaves was the basis ofthe main ccharacter from uncle Tom's cabin.

Directly descended from this cat, so I'm related to half the folks on the MS Gulf Coast:

This is my grandfather who, coincidentally, never lost an argument with a dog:

Family ran the Carnahan Store in Cloutierville, LA from 1905 until it was burned down by an arsonist in 2007 I think

It sold everything from shoes and food to guns.
