I support it. There is nothing sexier than a hairy European woman dripping with sweat.

Good way to get people to not spend money.

I'm getting excited about nuclear qualifying for the PTC under this new proposed legislation. I know a lot of other things in it are shite, but that's one huge win if it makes it through.

I've been to Spain, Italy, France, and a few other places in Europe and they were all very hot. They barely use the AC over there.

By all means, though, continue to put everything in your home on the "cloud". Make your home "smart". Let your toaster talk to your refrigerator and your unit tell you how warm it is in your home while you're at work. There's no possible way that can be used against you.

To be fair to the Spanish government, who could’ve possibly thought being dependent on Russian oil would somehow go wrong.

And how do they plan on enforcing that?

Phase out thermostats that don't connect to the internet. Then remote in and control the temperature. Would take time but the government has all the time in the world.

This is a good point and is exactly why I don't have any of that kind of crap in my house and never will. Give them control and they'll damn sure take it

This shite is why the utility in TX put all of those "free" smart thermostats in houses. Then people found out there was a clause in the contract that the utility could remotely control temps during times of large power usage.

I had to get a "smart" water heater a while back. It was all they had in stock and getting a regular one was going to take 2-3 weeks. It has a control panel on it that looks like it could launch a warhead. I do like the leak detection, but I deleted the app after I got the damn thing rolling. I don't need a water heater that connects to blue tooth. That's just one more thing that can frick up.

It’s actually been a successive line of presidents, including Trump, that have tried to warn Europe about relying on Russia for their energy needs. It goes back to at least Reagan trying to sanction a Soviet pipeline all the way to the present day.

Europe is truly reaping what they’ve sown.

As we sit right now it is 94 outside and my thermostat is at 70.

My thermostat falls under "my dead hands" protocol.
