I think trump’s “wall”/ anti immigrant agenda and energy was badly misguided.

It’s clear there’s a certain domestic demographic that’s a much bigger problem than Hispanics, illegal or otherwise.

This my grandparents escaped Cuba and legally became citizens. They are both conservative AF and would build the wall themselves if they could.

My wife was talking to her abuelo, who escaped Cuba shortly after Fidel took over, about two weeks ago when Trump said the "you loot we shoot" or whatever, and he loved it. He's lived through one of his countries being taken over by communist leftist scum, and doesn't want to see this one have the same thing.

I work with 99% Hispanics, and can tell you when it comes to opinions on politics and things in general there is no monolithic thought pattern.

On top of that, the newly immigrated do not always see eye to eye with the native born Americans whose parents or grandparents immigrated here. It is a hell of a mixed bag of internal conflict.

Very accurate, as a 3rd generation beaner myself, it runs the gamut. But will say that within my immediate & extended family I don’t know anyone that votes along party lines. Without a doubt the RC church still has more sway in that than any political party. As far as opinions regarding LEO I’ve got an aunt & an uncle who are cops that rose through the ranks to positions of authority. Yet, have heard horror stories from the past of prejudice and cracking skulls. Will say this there’s quite a bit of prejudice amongst Latinos, always has been, always will be Mexicans don’t like the Cubans, Cubans don’t like the Dominicans, & no one likes the PR’s. One thing that’s universal is going to jail or la pinta, the can, isn’t cool or gives you street cred. family shame.

They comprise 36% of the population, which actually makes them the majority as whites are 35%.

Nope. That’s a plurality. A majority is 50% +1 or more.

Mexicans are not bottom of the totem pole. They think they are way better than their Central American brethren, Guatemalans, Hondurans, Salvadorans, etc. And those are all based largely on “ha I am taller than you”

Based on percentage of Spanish blood rather than Indian.

I dealt with Tejanos from down in the Valley in places like Eagle Pass. These Hispanics have been there for generations, lots of them have a tradition of being military, etc. They have broad ranges of opinions like white European Americans. Cubans are a different bunch than any of the others. The older generation makes MAGA supporters look like bleeding heart liberals. Dominicans work their asses off. Panamanians are happy to be here. Puerto Ricans are a subsidiary of the Democrat Party. Mexican immigrants are pretty diverse, actually. If they live in Texas, they tend to be more to the conservative side. California Hispanics have been radicalized
