As you know, buddy got a DWI. He has to attend 18 sessions on drinking. For two of those sessions they REQUIRE him to bring a friend no exceptions. They are each 2 hours long. I told him I’d do it if he paid for drinks at a time he could drink. Wtf is this? Why do they require someone else to also be there? It just proves once again, some requirements are created out of stupidity. I couldn’t give two shits about what these idiots have to say.

Can't find any friends to come out for a few hours to support your "buddy?"

Install Uber and Lyft. Use them before getting behind the wheel.

He needs to find someone else to go with him. I have friends who can't drink, I don't drink alcohol when I'm with them. I respect their effort to improve their lives and make the world safer. You obviously don't

Again, ain’t me. However, it is very interesting everything the state/county require you to do that is completely irrelevant to your crime. What in the hell does it do for me to sit in a class about drinking and driving? I don’t do it. Sounds like the Karen’s at MADD came up with this one

Y’all can stop at the drive through daiquiri shop along the way.

Seriously, they make you go to those classes in the NOLA area but I have never heard of them making you bring someone. Of course you can’t drive if your license is suspended but that is a different issue.

Because most people that get DUIs have a drinking problem; and many do not realize it. Them having a friend/family member willing to commit to the time for the meeting shows them they have a support system for when they are ready to admit to the problem and begin the recovery phase.

Your friend may not fit this description, but I have had a few that did/do. If you aren't willing to give up 1-2 evenings for someone you consider a friend without getting something in return, you may need to reconsider how close of a friendship you have here...as well as figure out your own issues with alcohol.

MADD is closer to a terrorist organization than an advocacy organization
