Therefore, it isnt helping to fund you local stores and businesses. Which means a HUGE multiplier in the economy is gone forever. There is no level of wage that can ever correct that. Simply hire Americans, and your local economy will improve
Exactly. That and don't shop at stores, use chains that are not locally owned.
Same principle. Sucks money from the local economy.

This is about builders cutting corners, not the quality of work. You have these massive builders now, some operating nationwide. This isn't like the old days when you may have several small-time builders in any particular area.
Nah man. The Hispanics work hard but a lot of times they don’t know what they are doing. They don’t use the same materials and shite in Latin America. They show up here with zero experience and start working then taking side hustles. They will say they know how to do stuff but they just wing it and mostly frick up more often than not. I’ve seen crazy shite.

They're all levels but, yeah, a lot aren't really that skilled.
My mom's contractor was sending someone for paint touch ups at her house. Told me he had a scheduling problem because he had 2 guys.
One was a Guatemalan guy who'd 100% be there any day but didn't wanna send him without supervision because he's messy.
His best guy had just gotten arrested for a 3rd DUI but he'd get him as soon as he had time to figure out a ride back and forth.
I said "really"
he said "welcome to staffing small painting jobs"
Just an anecdote with a ton of exceptions but probably very often true as well.

Americans are lazy as frick. Half of them are too dumb or just don't want to work. My employer and many others are scrambling trying to find reliable people

You don't want a white or black guy nailing shingles on your house. 1) They are virtually impossible to find because the work is too hard/they don't want to do it and 2) the quality isn't there.
Office building next to mine just got a new roof last week, J and J roofing from St Amant, Ms Josie and her daughter run the business and both are on the roof. Not a single Hispanic on the site roof looks great and have not found a single nail
It can be done

I thought that too. But again you and I assume 40 hours a week time 50 weeks. I think he said he made like 60k or so year before.
I was a just a helper for a summer job and I think I made 20-25 per hour. I was ecstatic, but then we had a huge monsoon, etc and I didn't work for 3 weeks just like the guy said. (We were doing a turnaround in petrol chemical plants near Lake Charles) I just used the time to do a cybergenic workout etc so no big deal to me, but I am sure it sucked for them.
Please don't ban me for saying this but all the operators and company guys, many I became friends with, were white middle class guys, while almost all the subs were black, coon asses, etc. Even to a dumb college guy, operators etc were middle class jobs while construction workers apparently were not.
My friends from South Louisiana have been telling me for years a lot of younger people are leaving the oil industry for same reasons. You make 200k one year and 50 the next etc etc

I will share this with you guys, I was helping a buddy with his business years ago that involved a bunch of immigrants and I had some contracts translated to Spanish as my paralegal was fluent in 5 or 6 languages. He looked at me like I was fricking crazy and said what the frick is this? when I explained, he busted up laughing and said “None of these motherfrickers can read or write dude.” I said “ I know they don’t know English, but I put it in Spanish”
and then he told me “Dude they are very illiterate in English, Spanish, or whatever language you want to use. None of them can read and write any language.
This made me think we just had like 200 temporary work visas to bring in almost exclusively college-educated individuals who spoke English to do jobs no one wanted to do but nobody wanted that and we were stuck with illiterate people. Oh and btw the nuclear engineer who made the nuke for Pakistan begged to stay here after graduation from MIT or Georgia Tech yet we sent him back to Pakistan with no job prospects. He is helping Iran or something now.
That's our immigrant policy in a nutshell.

No, there are plenty of skilled or skill-able Americans that are highly motivated for the right price, AKA a living wage.

I have a buddy that owns a large landscape type business and he used to help illegals etc. He ended up having to hire a few after he had a bunch of thefts, people not showing up etc. He told me they were by far the hardest working, most honest and best employees he has ever had and treats them like family, and he couldn't have survived without them. He pays them more than he paid his former employees and has helped get them citizenship etc. But that's the exception not the rule

Reliable people exist. It's a paradigm shift; nothing will be instantly miraculously fixed, just give it time.

If we brought back the guest worker visa program the unions killed in the 60's, that would solve some of this.

Tough shite. Hire legal workers and you don’t have a problem. Hope these employers get locked up for hiring the illegals.

Your “buddy” and others like him are the reason we are in the position we are in today. You reap what you sew, and they are reaping it now.

Obviously not if you believe there is a pool of white folks lining up to do most of the framing and roof work..at almost any pay rate.
Think they are gonna work the chicken houses? $80k ..is that what those folks should make too?
America let them in the last 20-30 years. There needs to be some path to work eligibility since we did that. Simple as that.
