No the pope is not infallible. He’s human like us and is only infallible with certain doctrine. What church do you belong to? Was it founded by Jesus?

I have some news for you grasshopper. There has been more Protestant pastoral abuse that Catholic.

So why do we not hear about it? The answers are really simple: 1) Because it is a concerted effort to undermine the Catholic Church and concomitantly Western Civilization; 2) Protestant churches are irrelevant; and, 3) What would someone get if they sued? Brother Ray Bob's primer gray 1974 Camaro?

I don't know about more, but it certainly exists

The traditional access point has been choir directors (look up Horatio Alger)

It's just fun to joke about priests and listen to the deflectors react

Something different about mass vs a church service at a large non demo church. Those feel like a sales pitch/motivational speaking seminar.

I regularly crack jokes with my family regarding “with every head bowed, every eye closed, raise your hand if you want Jesus in your heart”. Catholic Church has its issues too but it’s the OG.

What is God calling you to do? I became Catholic in the 90s grew up Southern Baptist.

It was to me the most logical and the most aligned to what I thought and still think worshiping Christ is should be. We are all saved by only Christ and we can hope to have salvation in our faith in Christ best by being buttressed in His Church with its sacraments but what matters most is what is in your heart. Salvation is only possible between you and the Lord but he gave us his Church to give us a structure that we can use to navigate a world of sin.

God bless you on your journey.

Isn't Catholicism a watered down orthodoxy? Didn't both originate from the great schism?

Yes there is something very different about it. The Catholic Church is the only church where Jesus Christ is truly present in the bread and wine transfigured into the body and blood of our Lord and Savior. John 6:54, whoever eats my flesh and drinks my blood has eternal life and I will raise him on the last day.

Protestant and evangelicals call it the wafer and wine and only a symbolism. True for their sec because there is no vicar of Christ amongst them who can perform transfiguration.

I was born Catholic. I’ve had many friends and family members who left the Catholic faith. I ask why? This is the answer I always get, I just don't get anything out of mass.

I ask what do you get out of your new church? They say we have worship music with a band for about half the time then the preacher reads the Bible and speaks of its passages. And the Catholics don't read the Bible. We leave feeling refreshed.

My response to those doubting Thomases is the only reason you have the Bible is because Catholics wrote it for you. We have three bible readings at every Catholic mass and father gives a homily on all three readings.

But most importantly, Catholics don't go to mass to get something out of it, that’s self serving. We go to give thanks to our Almighty God for sending his only begotten son our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ so that we may have a chance at salvation. John 3:16, for God so loved the world, that he gave is one and only Son, that everyone who believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life.

I’m sure I will get a lot of flack from this post. When you respond tell me who founded your church. Mine was founded by Jesus Christ.

I would listen to many perspectives. From the protestant side, I suggest Wes Huff, Gavin Ortlund and Mike Winger. Most of them have debated and/or collaborated with several of the RCC apologists. Each has valuable points to consider.
But the bottom line is that this is a very personal and very important decision.
Study carefully.

Excellent post! Especially this:

I absolutely love my parish and have been blessed with many great relationships because of our common beliefs.

I’m not there to be entertained, but there for multiple reasons: to give thanks to God for all of the blessings bestowed on me, to listen to God’s Word and learn from it so that I can spread the Word and testify to the healing presence Jesus Christ, Our Lord and Savior, to others. I’m also there to ask for the intercession of the angels and saints for others who may have needs, for myself and those that I love. Most importantly to me, I’m there to lead my family, particularly my daughter. Not married anymore and my son is autistic so as much as I want him to participate, it can be a challenge for him and me to take him. If he understood what was going on bringing him would be entirely different.

Those that don’t get anything out of it are probably there to just check the box for the hour. Personally, I really try to focus and listen and if I feel like I’ve left Mass unfulfilled or “zoned out” because of my duties as an usher I will go back later.

If I’m still in need of quality and quiet time with Jesus, the Adoration chapel is open 24/7.

Would you like to have an intellectual conversation about this or do you just want to show your ignorance with some stupid emoji.

I grew up Presbyterian. I started going to mass when my niece went Catholic school. I really liked the Mass. I also love the priest at the church. I don’t know that I’ll ever officially convert, but I do consider myself Catholic.

I also work with a 92 year old nun once a week. She’s a hoot!!

Yes they rejected the church of Jesus Christ. They didn’t want to be restrained. They are a church of a man, not Jesus. As we can now see today they have been perverted. The evil one creates his opportunities and then exploits them.

Why don’t you ask Jesus tonight when you lay your head on your pillow if the Catholic Church is the true church that was founded by our Lord Jesus Christ when he told Peter, you are Peter and on this rock I will build my church, and the gates of Hades will not overcome it.

Why don’t you ask the tens of thousands of children molested by priests of the gates of Hades have overcome the church?
