That is probably why you don't read very well. Van wasn't by the neighborhood. It was way past it on the side of the 4 lane.

The speed limit is clearly marked, right when you turn off of Camilia.

Seriously? It's .2 miles from Camellia to the neighborhood

This, it's like .24 miles but it is no where near the mile you think it is (I could take a screen shot of the exact distance if I cared enough). So when the van is in the middle between Camellia and the neighborhood that give you ~200 yards. In a neighborhood there is a big difference between someone going 25 and someone going 31.

No, Comeaux High and the neighborhood are over mile back. This is where it runs through pasture land, way more than 100 yards.

Dude you are wrong! Yea, it is over 100 yds, maybe 300 yds. It leads directly into homes/neighborhood across the street from a school. So every day there are hundreds of teenagers and parents going and leaving the school. It's dangerous as frick for the kids walking. On the other side of Comeaux, there is a park with baseball, football, basketball city programs year round.

If you speed in a zone like that, you need a ticket. The consequences are too high for error in that particular area.

On another note, don't pay it

Exactly.

Are the speed vans and cameras that dot Camellia there solely for revenue generation and not safety?

Yea...frick yeah. Obviously. if Lafayette cared about safety they would be at intersections where accidents actually routinely happen, not where the highest tax base drives most often.

But they are all marked. Getting a ticket on Bluebird or Camellia is essentially an Idiot Tax given avoiding getting one is as simple as slowing down when you see them, same as you'd likely do if you saw a cop sitting there.

Not be misconstrued...I fricking hate the vans and cameras and will vote to have them removed each and every time I'm given a chance...but I'd never pretend I could not have avoided getting a ticket by one unless and until they start hiding.

It's terrible and it's the voters' fault. I think it's unconstitutional frankly and have thrown 2 of those tix away. I refuse to pay.

Gosh Damnit! I wasn't fricking coming off Camellia! I was going the other way! Towards Camellia! The speed van was on the right side of the road (not in the middle), so they were catching people not going to the neighborhood, they were going AWAY from the neighborhood.

Big white speed van, right? Parked up on the curb with no other vehicles anywhere around? Speed van logo on the side?

Yeah...they suck, but they're not fricking invisible. What exactly is the goal here?

You want agreement that handing out tickets via cameras sucks? Yeah...agreed. But unless you're taking one for the team and telling us you purposefully drove past a very visible speed van just to see if they'd actually issue you a ticket, I'm not seeing your point. Handing out tickets is the sole purpose for the those things...of course they'll give you a ticket for speeding past them.
