On the lighter side, I always though an Alamo Drafthouse style movie theater would do well in Baton Rouge.

What's wrong with the Movie Tavern?

I haven't lived in Baton Rouge since 2010. Glad to see that kind of theater is doing well.

Movie Tavern is a poor substitute for Alamo Drafthouse.

It's shame that Tommy Spinosa cost Baton Rouge an Alamo Drafthouse theater. I'm hoping that somebody else will open one in BR at some point. It would do very well.

Downtown today is nicer than it has been in 30 years. It is inarguably on an upswing.

Mid city, capital heights, etc. are hot real estate markets now.

BR just needs to work on its traffic, put Morgan Freeman from Lean On Me in charge of the schools, encourage pro business tax policies and regulations, crack down hard on violent crime but leave the pot smoking hippies and soccer moms not wearing seat belts alone and end the good ole boy politics. Just fixed it all.

Price isn't the problem so much as quality

BRQ has promise. I've had their catered food before and it was fantastic. Pimanyolis and smoking aces are also good but I agree that it's a fairly underrepresented food group in South Louisiana in general

The problem is that people disagree on what "the end" is.

Some want a chocolate city, others do not.

Creative food and bar concepts that aren't chain restaurants

Why would someone want the liability of opening their own restaurant? Participation in the work force is at an all time low, rent is high, insurance premiums on employees would put most people out of business with the quickness.

There really isn't a good reason. Unless you feel like busting your arse for pennies.

outside of only a few decent BBQ places, restaurants are not an issue in BR. Does it have the food scene of Nola? No. But it's better than literally 85% of the places I've been to in the US. The chain restaurant issue in BR was back in the 90s

Would/do you live there?

I did for 3 years in Beauregard town. Loved it actually.

Downtown was much better when I left than when I first moved to br in 04.
