Classes aren't bad. You basically pay money to sit in a class for a day and then shoot a gun

Easy, took mine with LSP about a year ago. Sat in the classroom that morning learning where you can and cant carry, laws and stuff like that. Then some prisoners cooked us lunch and we went shoot that afternoon. To get the license you have to pass a written test and shoot a target from like 12 yards. Its really easy. Our instructor was a DEA agent and had some badass stories to tell. Overall it cost around $400 because the application fee is like $200 bucks, do EVERYTHING online and do the digital fingerprints at state police. Its the difference from waiting 3 weeks for it or 3 months.

I took the class but haven't applied. I pretty much carry at least in my vehicle. I'll get to the paperwork sometime.
The class I believe it was 6-8 hours then we drove to bayou Paul and shot at a small range. I got a lot out of the class and brought my wife and neighbors wife so they learned a lot.
Worth it. My wife will have a Smith and Wesson M&P 40 from Santa this year.

I'm looking for a class that teaches the horizontal orientation of the pistol. I want to look cool while exercising my 2nd Amendment rights.

When I took mine in 2001 at Gretna guns it was 2 days. All classroom one day. All shooting the 2nd

I took the class this year in Prairieville. It was a long arse class. I think it was 9 hrs if I remember correctly. Maybe 8.

Bigger than a 9mm which isn't enough stopping power but smaller than a 45 because it would break her wrist.
Plus she has a Browning semi 9mm, a 380 SW Bodyguard and a few others. Just something different. I also bought her a Fausti side by side and she can hit doves as good as anyone I've ever hunted with.

Keep in mind you still (for now) retain the right to open carry if you wish with no license in most states with the same limitations on locale regarding concealed carry.
There are certainly same pros and cons of both open and concealed carry.
Also, there is no "gun registry" in most states. A "registered gun" is a misnomer in most cases.
Do what's right for you but realize the freedoms you have already before they are taken.
