Commute to work job opportunity

Long story short I’ve been with the same company for 5 years. I’ve moved up to Foreman for the project I’m on but we only work 40 hours (4 10s). There’s a job 2hours and 45 minutes away where I’d make double what I make plus more in retirement but work 6 days a week. And there’s a night shift making 3 times as much.
I do have a free place to stay a few days out of the week but I will have to come home too.
Opinions on if it’s too far or worth it. Also the job is 3 to 5 plus years long.
Girlfriend of 4 years, 1 daughter age 7. Family half way that can help get her to me or I pick her up and drive back on Fridays on my weekend.
I get my daughter on Wednesday night for dinner and every other weekend.
Update… on top of the regular pay and overtime, I’d get an extra 220 a week going into an annuity in my name for retirement on top of the pensions I already have.
Pier diem in a month or 2, 100 a day.

Age, how many years of work left, marital staus, kids??? These are the pieces of information we would need to answer this

1 child 7. That’s why I haven’t left yet and why I’d commute verses stay up there all the time.

Plenty shift workers at plants/refineries/papermills do this but it's 4 on 4 off usually. And they either tow camper or have a camper set up at a nearby RV park/campground.
Not sure how you'd make 6 days a week work unless you're single.

with a child at that age, I am working the 4-10s and spending time. Money is not everything and they gow up too fast. You can pick up shifts once they are in high school and ignore you

My girlfriend is in grad school and we don’t spend a lot of time together because she works and goes to school. Hope this helps where once she’s done I can come home work an easy 40 hours have all debts paid off.

What’s time with your daughter worth to you?
7 is a precious age and you won’t get that back.

Both you and the family are going to get tired of the commute.

That sounds like a great opportunity!
A move solves it (presume that is not an option for you/family?).
I had to commute 2.5hrs post Katrina. I would rather eat daily a bowl of broken glass. And then I was 6 months living away from wife and then 5yo. Not exactly your situation but some parallels.
I look back on that time as a low point. The $ will be good for a short period but will wane. You will be left with holes (family time, dead life of a commute, possible loneliness).
My 2 cents…either relocate to seize the opportunity and do yourself right or don’t do it.
Time > Money
Good luck!

Do you drive an F250 because you sound like you drive an F250. If so, go for it!

Very much depends on your priorities, but for me I’ve taken quite a pay cut in the past (with potential to bring it back somewhat close which I did over time) to have more of a stable timeframe with the family. I could see myself in a couple decades thinking about how much I missed and it just wasn’t worth it to me. But solely depend on situation and priorities.

While I agree and why I’ve stayed home for as long as i have, with family support and I can always come back to the job I’m on makes it enticing.

I'd take it as long as you prioritize time with your daughter to the point you are always early to get her and never miss a date. The rest of the time you can work since you don't really have any other responsibilities.

If you're going to work for Worley you may want to reconsider
