The advertisment only works if it actually compels you to patronize their business, whatever it may be. Did he actually go buy the toothpaste? Who cares about brand awareness if you don't actually buy the product.
I remember all of these terrible Liberty Mutual and Progressive insurance commercials. They actually, in fact, serve as a deterrent to me ever using them for my insurance needs. Their ads are so awful I refuse to use them. Ever.
