This isn’t because of NN, and while Comcast is a bag of dicks, they’re giving better service to customers who pay more. Every company in existence will take care of the guy who gives them more money than the rest.

In other words suckers who will pay for garbage cable TV just to have internet.

That’s because companies like Comcast are “lobbying” (I.e. bribing) legislators to pass laws preventing competition from ever being allowed.

Net neutrality is more about prioritizing data, not giving higher speeds to customers who pay them more.

Disagree. I want it listed as a utility and treated as such.

Yes, my hood only has uverse. Time warner is near us, but no lines into my neighborhood. I currently have the $95/mth directv/internet deal. I have a little over 1 yr left. If they try to jack it up, I'll go back to cord cutting.

Pretty much. They’re incentivizing people to get cable again so they can get the faster speed.

My dad always said that someday watching TV would be like having a utility meter spinning, the more you watch or premium the the channel the faster the meter would spin and charge you more. He is so close to being right.

But Comcast does need to get their systems up to par especially in Houma. They were having a crap ton of issues here with channels breaking up in the last 24 hours. It finally stabilized late this afternoon.

I also don’t get this move in a way when they are BETA testing or launched a Roku app to watch cable without a box, because that is the price killer if for cable and need a large amount of HD boxes (15 each). You are literally paying more in rental fees than subscription fees.

60Mbps
This is the speed you get if you don't subscribe to video? Awesome I get 25 on a good day here in the hills. I'd be peachy with 60Mbps.

Have you called? Or tried looking at spectrum, which is what Time Warner is now.

I have uverse though and love it. Gigabit Internet is the shite.

Is electricity not a utility?

And Comcast continues to hold the title of “shittiest US company” over EA and Activision.

Lord I hope a viable alternative to fiber optic presents itself sooner or later.

Tried spectrum, I'm too far away from the lines to get decent service.

That’s the weirdest thing I’ve heard today.

I just have a hard time believing anywhere in Dfw has only one provider option.

Cost should be based on consumption. No reason old people only using internet for email and shite using 10 GB a month should pay the same as a baw streaming 24/7 eating up 2 TB of data.

Well pass that on to the major corporations who get monopolistic deals with cities/counties/parishes and then don't bother to create any sort of specialty tiers because charging those old people just as much is a better profit margin.

I mean, cable companies are such good stewards for the consumers. Like when Cox increased speeds while reducing data caps for all their tiers of internet service while introducing overage charges. But at least our data rolls over . . . oh wait. At least we only get charged $10 for an extra 50 GB; or we can pay a lot more for unlimited data or for additional 500GB blocks.

Remember, it's the data hogs who cause network problems . . . unless they pay more. Then it's a good deal for Cox.

We have it available in my neighborhood but I'm still on 150 Mb Cox right now.

Hate to break it to y’all but in the next five years you will be getting everything in one shop from one of the big 3.

That includes cell / internet / cable.

Once 5G is completely up, you may see real competition occur. Commercial sites are going up now.
