I'm right there with you. We will never know what it is like and have absolutely no business ever trying to figure out if what it is like because we didn't live it and don't have the slightest clue what it is like to face death and destruction on a daily basis and the mental and physical strain it puts on a human. frick you for even thinking you have the slightest clue in comprehending this.

I understand PTSD, as it has ruined a life of a family member of mine. My point was that you cant inconvenience an entire small community because you don't know how to avoid a certain thing. It's not hard to do another activity. So this dude is gonna just sit on his lazy arse in his living room and cringe at every black cat that goes off? Please

Only thing I could see it being is mimicking gunfire, therefore triggering some type of reaction.

I don't know really. Kind of grasping for straws. Just a thought, though.

but it really doesn't sound the same. M4s/AKs/etc have a distinct sound, and I have never heard it replicated by fireworks. Sure, there is a pop, but it's obviously different.

With all due respect, if you sign up for the military these days you know that the odds are pretty damn strong that you are going to see some action and have to deal with the consequences that come with that so no I don't need to be on my knees thanking anyone.

I got a smart point:

It's one thing to put sign in front your house so neighbors can see and maybe understand.

But, what was the point of taking picture with sign and posting on social media page?

I can see going into McDs and reminding them to lower their flag...Why film it and call the media...

Dude has military tats, shirt, and probably a military type hat in plain site and you have to ask why?

He's one of those types. The types the other military despise. Dude was probably actually reserve or nat guard.

I felt kind of bad but I chuckled when I saw this on the news last night. There's certain things that will get me going but I'm sure not putting a sign up in my yard. I might tell stories about shenanigans on motor pool Monday to civilians but I'm not too interested in sharing any "war stories". I wish this guy the best though and if this is his way to deal I hope it works for him.

Let me guess, his PTSD is only cured with donuts which is why he's a fatfrick with no use to society.

While this one I do NOT agree with; I count quite a few keyboard warriors in here who deserve a quality arse kicking.

Relevant, have a Facebook friend who claims she has PTSD from witnessing her father die. She posted something similar, saying to be courteous to PTSD sufferers who may suffer episodes from the fireworks.

I didn't have the heart to tell her that the reason typical [real] PTSD sufferers (war vets) react badly to fireworks.

Just fyi, those forces make up about 50% of the fighting force during the last 10 years. I wouldn't go discounting the reserves or the guard these days.

seems pretty easy to maybe take a few steps to meet him in the middle.... not have it be a 4 day affair with random explosions all weekend.

let the guy know you have some, the plan is Saturday at 10ish, etc..... all basic courtesies without having to totally ruin your party.

I know but don't they typically see less action than regular military? All the reserves and nat gaurd guys I know that have gone overseas didn't do shite while there.
