Christmas lights are for kids and my kids wanted colored lights so that's what they got.

When I was a kid my mom insisted on using the big fat colored lights that made your house bright as frick. Then as we got older she switched to white only. Now since she is an empty nester she legit uses the LED sparkly shite.

You should have raised them better.

If I had a daughter that liked colored lights I would send her off to boarding school.

Yeah, I bet your mom is a fan of the big, fat, colored ones.

I feel like this thread pops up every year.

First of all, the preferred term is "African American Lights" or "Lights of Color." It's almost 2017, get with the times.

Second, I don't decorate my house, but I've always thought the white lighting looked much better.

Trashy people have adopted white lights as they think it makes them look rich & classy.

Normally, I decorate with both. We usually use colored lights on the tree to keep the trashy quotient high. This year, we upped the ante by not only using colored lights on the tree, but including just one strand, close to the middle, that blink on and off. Meanwhile, all of the other lights stay lit constantly.

You can't throw me off my trashy game.

Whites belongs in and around the house. Coloreds usually belong out in the yard or field. Only a select few coloreds usually make it into the house.
