Those are good reports, and interesting that they are tracking recoveries and people leaving the hospital. Gives it more context. I think that when the recoveries start outpacing the new positives you are really on the right track.

The whole metroplex is as prepared hospital and staffing wise that it's going to be.

The fear the media hype is placing on people here is nuts. .04% of the population of Collin County has the virus.

Right. And the goalposts constantly move. For example, you were an idiot if you went shopping without a mask to help prevent getting WuFlu. As evidence piles up that masks are not an effective deterrent, the armchair pandemic experts say you are inconsiderate if you don’t wear a mask because you could make others sick.

Signs are pointing to Abbott lifting the order some next week. Frisco and McKinney will probably fight it out to be the last to lift though.

Under 2300 tests for a county with over a million people would be my concern.

Collin has a lot of people working in Dallas County while living in Collin, and also just back and forth between them by residents from both. Obviously less with restrictions but there are still some.

EBR with less than half population is pushing 7000 tests. Many Counties in Texas haven't been as forthcoming on number of tests performed as parishes in Louisiana have been recently.

Why? There are really some large misconceptions happening thanks to our media.

1. Everyone in the country should be tested.

2. Flattening the curve will kill/cure the disease.

You do not need to test people just to test people. You will see those tests increase if there was an actual issue happening. Only seeing a medical need to perform 2300 test tells me we are kicking arse in the suburbs (thanks goes to Karen)

The disease is not going away until there is a vaccine or herd immunity, flattening the curve was nothing more than spreading out the infections and deaths.

Who said all need to be tested. Just saying there is a need for more than 2,300 per million isn't saying all need to be tested. An elected County juror or whatever they are called in Texas admitted last weekend of March they have needed to test more, have asked for more tests, but they were relying on state to solve it and pushing off to doctors of which many have basically said stay away with these symptoms and go to a testing site if around moderate level and/or go to ER if they get worse than that.

You do understand that Collin County and our Healthcare Department is more along the lines of a Healthcare Authority, which interfaces with other government entities... We do not have a county hospital, and we do not see “patients” – but rather handle our state mandated indigent healthcare through a network of private entities. As I mentioned, private entities are part of the solution – which is why we’ve told people to go through their private physician and have testing (that your doc can order) through LabCorp and Quest. The lab in Dallas is a regional processing lab. They can only process so many tests per day. Again, the Governor has ordered some of the rapid tests that have just been announced by private entities, one of them in Frisco, and I do hope that the private sector will continue to help Government scale to this emergency.
