Is there a bigger scam than college and all that it implies.

US Attorney Andrew Lelling:
“There can be no separate college admissions system for the wealthy, and I’ll add, there will not be a separate criminal justice system either”...
Sure...we’ll see about that.

I can’t do it justice. You have to read it or pull up the FBI press conference. It is easily the worst Higher education corruption scandal in US history. Just overwhelming in scope and organization.

Ha. White hollywood liberals showing their true colors. Nice scam, and proves how colleges today need to be overhauled.
Aunt Becky can work off my condemnation thats for sure. Hey-o

I thought making big donations to a university was an acceptable way to get your kid in?
Making big donations to an illegal charity and then deducting said donation on your taxes is no acceptable to Uncle Sam.
NEVER frick with the government's money!!!

The CEO of IMG Academy is implicated also... that could get interesting depending on what he specifically did.
The majority of all of our favorite sports teams in the south have a few IMG athletes sprinkled in.

33% of Harvard are legacy. This is a quote from a recent lawsuit against Harvard:
You let in legacies to keep the money following. It’s only legal to bribe a school if you are an alum?
Why go through the trouble of cheating when you can just make a donation.
quote:
Consideration of legacy status “cements strong bonds between the College and its alumni and encourages alumni to remain engaged with the University for the rest of their lives,” Harvard’s submission reads.

Basically every facet of higher ed in the US is now a scam.
Bleed the taxpayers, overpay unqualified faculty and admin. Teach bullshite. Burden the students. Wait for the bailout.

Take for example Michael Center, tennis coach at the University of Texas - Austin. He's one of the people responsible for getting people's kids into school on fake terms.
The criminal complaint against him alleges that:
1. Center agreed to accept $100,000 in bribe money to designate someone as a student athlete on the Tennis team, despite knowing the student had never played competitive tennis.
2. The student's father paid the fraudulent nonprofit (KWF) a HUGE sum of money to arrange this bribe. "On or about February 27, 2015, Applicant l's father made a purported donation of stock valued at $455,194 to KWF." He later made an additional donation of $173,000 worth of stock to KWF.
3. A KWF employee then wrote a $25,000 check to the University of Texas Athletics Department, plus a second $15,000 check, "payable to 'Texas Athletics Attn: Michael Center.'"
4. A KWF employee who cooperated with the feds then flew to Texas and met Michael Center in a parking lot and handed him $60,000 in cash as reward. Center then deposited the cash in amounts less than $10,000 into his bank account over the next month (so they could get him on illegal structuring as well!).
5. The Feds also have Center agreeing on a recorded call to getting another student into the school for a bribe.

The problem is that Aunt Becky and friends weren't bribing the school.
They were bribing employees, coaches and test administrators.
If her kids were borderline, she probably could have just made it clear that she was be full pay and they would have been admitted but they must be pretty thick if she had to go through all of that effort and money.
