"Joshjrn He/Him"

I've actually seen/heard people do it during in person introductions, which always catches me off guard.

But why is this necessary?

Funny you ask. I saw it on a few people's signatures yesterday and next to it was a link that said, verbatim, "Why is this necessary?"

I clicked on it and it was as multi-page essay on it.

I see it pretty commonly though in my sector. I don't mind because there's a lot of people that names their kids trendy other-gendered names the past 30 years. Nice to know if I should expect a woman or a man when I finally meet them or speak on the phone.

I deal with non profits for a living and we get a variety of "charities". Let's just say some are worth giving to and some are. . . well, a little less logical.

Had a rep list her "pronoun" in her signature and then got on a teams call and all of a sudden the "pronouns" she listed made a whole lot of sense based on her face.

I've definitely never heard this. I can't remember people's names until I meet them a few times. Now I'm supposed to remember other things about them?

Super common in your more progressive circles at this point. And while I 100% agree with you on being able to remember it (I have a *very* good memory, but anyone who knows me well can tell you I'm fricking terrible with names), this is the best way I can explain it: cisgendered people do it as a way to normalize it, so that when a transgender person does it, it doesn't seem out of place, but you'll remember because let's be honest, you had been trying to figure that shite out for the last 15 minutes anyway

ETA: I've never done it, but I have a feeling I'll likely bow to peer pressure on the subject within the next few years, at least in some circles.

k, that’s nice.

The problem is. In today’s world these nice to have’s by some end up becoming policy and expected and eventually offensive if you don’t participate.

I guess I can expect to introduce myself in 2 years during a training class as: Klark Kent, he/him, CIS straight privileged Caucasian biological male, been with the company for 12 years. Fun fact: Love fishing, but terrible at it.

I would he/him like my life fricking depended on it if it meant I never had to give a fun fact or otherwise answer some inane ice breaker question ever again.

We have a fat secretary that does this. Coincidentally she’s filed complaints that everyone in the office doesn’t maintain 6ft and wear masks anytime we leave our office. Go to the printer? She wants a mask on. Go to the bathroom or break room? You got it, she wants everyone to wear a mask.

Fat AF, Ugly AF, and Pale AF. Huge leftist too. She could work from home as we all have done so, but she has claimed that forcing her to work from home would be singling her out and has threatened to sue. #progressive

Yeah I've never seen this, and didn't know it was a thing (for signatures) before this thread.

I guess the new inane ice breaker’s will be deciphering people’s inane pronouns. I’m going to need a chart and will likely be threatened by my management before I play along nicely.

This shite annoys me to no end. It’s very prevalent on LinkedIn and I automatically lose respect for people who add it.

And I can also go ahead and mark them down as a crazy progressive liberal since no sane conservative is going to add that dumb unnecessary shite.

Don't shoot the messenger, just answering the question honestly...

It is part of being an ally, being inclusive and an attempt to normalize discussions about gender. So transgender or non-binary individuals aren't the only ones doing it.

Edit: I shouldn't have wasted my time. Y'all baws don't care anyway. Probably assume I'm a liberal voting for Biden. *trumpwrong.gif*

I’m so glad I work in an office of conservative as frick folks. Our most “woke” person is pretty much a right leaning moderate.

Anyone who includes pronouns didn’t get bullied enough in high school. Zero tolerance has rendered a large portion of society into inept, incompetent cretins.

Bullying is essential
