CNN turn on the fatties with the most obvious study findings ever:Exercise is good for you

Not exercising worse for your health than smoking, diabetes and heart disease, study reveals
Cue all the fat people who say they are fat but can run a marathon.

We've all heard exercise helps you live longer. But a new study goes one step further, finding that a sedentary lifestyle is worse for your health than smoking, diabetes and heart disease.
Dr. Wael Jaber, a cardiologist at the Cleveland Clinic and senior author of the study, called the results "extremely surprising."
"Being unfit on a treadmill or in an exercise stress test has a worse prognosis, as far as death, than being hypertensive, being diabetic or being a current smoker," Jaber told CNN. "We've never seen something as pronounced as this and as objective as this."

Jaber said researchers must now convey the risks to the general population that "being unfit should be considered as strong of a risk factor as hypertension, diabetes and smoking -- if not stronger than all of them."
"It should be treated almost as a disease that has a prescription, which is called exercise," he said.
quote:
"Cardiovascular disease and diabetes are the most expensive diseases in the United States. We spend more than $200 billion per year treating these diseases and their complications. Rather than pay huge sums for disease treatment, we should be encouraging our patients and communities to be active and exercise daily," said Dr. Jordan Metzl, sports medicine physician at the Hospital for Special Surgery and author of the book "The Exercise Cure."
Cue all the fat people who say they are fat but can run a marathon.

Those findings aren't remotely surprising to me. And I like the fact that they tried to remove the issues involved with self-reporting and retrospective studies (although I only skimmed the article and am unclear how exactly they gathered enough accurate exercise data to make these conclusions. Need to read study). Another issue is controlling for the fact that people who exercise tend to avoid other risky behavior, such as over drinking, smoking, shitty diet, etc. They would have to rely on self-reporting for that stuff at the very least.

Someone will find this “offensive” and cnn will be forced to retract the story and issues an apology

Might be the first truthful thing they've reported in 5 years.

Apparantly well over half of America needed one.

There are lots of fat people that can run a marathon but have genetics where they can’t lose weight

I watch CNN and I'm not sure
I could tell you the difference in Iraq and Iran.

You're going to need better bait.

I think the big statement here is they're finally comfortable saying that it's quantifiably worse for your health than smoking, which has been seen for 15-20 years as the single worst thing you can do.

I think the shocking thing is how significant exercise can improve your health. I see it everyday at work. Overweight 35-40 year old patient who can barely walk from the lobby to my exam room without gasping for air. The one thing that would exponentially improve their condition is becoming active 4-5 days a week but many are unwilling to try because it requires work and can be uncomfortable. So instead they end up being treated for a number of things and are routinely in our clinic every 6 months. It costs a fortune but they don’t realize it. For every 10 lbs an overweight person loses, their BP drops pretty substantially. No pill, no procedures, just walk up a hill or some stairs a few times a week. Humans were built to move, not be sedentary.

Being obese is a choice. It's just not hard to stay healthy and still live a normal lifestyle.
For most fatties, if they stopped eating fried food and consuming three cokes every day, combined with some powerwalking around the neighborhood, they'd shed a ton of weight.

It's amazing how little it takes to stay somewhat healthy and so few people are willing to do it.
