ARLINGTON HEIGHTS, Ill. — Classes have been cancelled at a northwest suburban school on Tuesday after a resource officer misplaced his gun while he was using the bathroom on Monday afternoon.
According to Arlington Heights police, the incident unfolded just prior to school dismissal at Forest View Educational Center, located in the 2100 block of South Goebbert Road in Arlington Heights.
Police say the school resource officer removed his firearm from his duty holster while using the restroom, but realized the gun was missing shortly after students were dismissed for the day.
The resource officer searched the restroom for the gun, but did not locate it and contacted authorities to help in the search.

Arlington Heights Police, Cook County Sheriff’s Police and Palatine Police then conducted an extensive search of the school grounds using K9 units specifically trained for weapon detection, but they were also unsuccessful.
Authorities say hallway surveillance images indicate that a limited number of people entered the restroom, but authorities have still not been able to track down the firearm.

Why did he remove his gun from his holster to use the bathroom?

Let me guess the demographics of this "learning center." 94.1% black, 5.9% Hispanic.

I think so, but based on the word "learning center", I'm pretty sure that this is where the retards in the city go to school.
Even nice suburbs can have some rough neighborhoods. And the people from those neighborhoods will usually be the retards in "learning centers".

Looks like this is one of those special needs discipline schools.

The Academy at Forest View supports instruction towards high school graduation credits for students needing a smaller setting with supports for social-emotional learning. As students progress academically and demonstrate growth towards managing their needs, teams plan for classes and extracurricular opportunities within our District 214 comprehensive high schools. Through career exploration activities, students are encouraged to identify their post-school interests and engage in experiential learning with our community partners. Our talented team is excited to partner with our district community to provide a highly structured and nurturing learning environment in which students actively grow towards their aspirations.

Integration is the process of the gradual returning students to their home high schools for general education courses. Typically, integration begins with one or two courses at the home school while continuing to attend The Academy at Forest View for the rest of the school day. Then if the student is successful at maintaining his/her grades and level 3 status, the IEP team will discuss increasing a student’s classes at his or her home high school.
The minimum requirements for integration are:
Maintain a behavioral level 3 for at least one full term/quarter
Only obtain minor level disciplinary referrals
Complete an orientation at the home high school
Demonstrate appropriate social skills and coping skills
Demonstrate healthy problem-solving skills and an ability to accept staff/teacher constructive feedback
Advocates for yourself in the classroom
Take responsibility for completing assignments on time
Maintain Bs or better grades in all enrolled courses
Maintain level 3 while integrated at their home high school
A student's entire IEP team must meet, agree, and support the integration.

The largest Forest View racial/ethnic groups are Hispanic (56.8%) followed by White (42.8%) and Two or More (0.2%).

Illinois seems to have broken it's long lineage of fine upstanding public servants.

Yeah, a school district place called a “learning center” rather than a school does not sound good. I know places like Kumon are also sometimes called learning centers, but that context is a little different.

You certainly don’t know anything about Arlington Heights

Not sure if anybody here is watching Rooster (new Steve Carrell show on HBO or not, but this sounds exactly like the officer on that show. He's hilarious.

Rory Scovel is the actor/comedian playing the cop. He's fantastic in this role.
