That’s the guy! OT never forgets LOL.

I just remember my buddy had money in his hand about to give it to that turd when I started yelling at him. He just turned and walked off. It was kind of disappointing as I thought he would at least try and talk his way out of it but he knew he was busted the second I started talking about TD.

The last guy I saw begging for money at an intersection was in a wheelchair and had no legs.

I hope ol boy raked in the dough, but I don't give anything to anyone on the street.

?

I was at the Race Trac and a car pulls up with about 5 people in the car and one gets out and comes up to me asking for gas money so they can get back to Georgia

Several years ago in Lafayette, there was a guy hitting people up in Wal-Mart parking lots with similar sob story.

Homeless people for the most part haven’t ALWAYS been homeless. The iPhone charger is probably for a very old phone that has no sale value at all, so they use it on the free WiFi at McDonald’s. I agree it doesn’t make them look good, but there’s nobody wanting to buy a 7 year old iPhone that looks like it’s been used as a snow shovel.

Pimps and dealers will provide transportation if they think it’s good for their Illegitimate business. Some shelters help pay for transportation to work the following morning.

Not all homeless people are beggars, but not all homeless want to have a home. The shelters in BTR are usually full by 6pm, and there are several hundred people who are not admitted because there are no beds.

I agree with you here. People say “omg they have an I phone!” Like that makes them not legitimately broke/homeless etc. I phones have been around for like more than 10 years, a super old one is not worth shite and they can connect to WiFi for free so it’s not like they have a plan necessarily.

But the other thing is that 100 percent of people begging at stores and stuff are addicts. Not 99 percent, 100 percent. Now they may be mentally ill as well, and that leads to or exacerbates the addiction. But make no mistake, the addiction rate among the homeless is 100%.

I hear you, and this is probably fair. But the phone was just the icing on the cake. The fact that they showed up in a taxi cab is what really jumped out at me.

Could have been their “pimp” as others have stated. I didn’t catch which cab company it was. Not Yellow Cab - it was a white taxi van.

I always thought it would be much easier to have a job and work 30 or 40 hours a week than to literally forget any dignity you have and beg for change all day. I just don’t get the hustle. Surely it can’t be that profitable to beg for nickels, dimes, and cigarettes all day.

Yea, I feel like the metric on giving them money isn’t really how poor or what level of homeless they really are. What it really comes down to is, is one willing to give money to them knowing for an absolute fact that it will be used on some type of substance. If one is ok with that, fine, but people don’t need to be fooled into thinking by giving they are helping these people better their lives.

Really. Ask them what they want the money for. When they tell you food, give them food. Then watch them get mad.
