I've found that if you're getting hammered, smoking a log will make your hangover worse.

For a beginner just get a few R&J, the lighter the better and see how you enjoy it.

Moving on to Maduro's is an acquired taste.

Ignore the jackwagons spitting out the most expensive name they have ever heard of, they are just doing their usual and recommending a 50 year old singe malt for mixing with mountain dew at the tailgate.

Perdomo 10th anniversary Champagne. Very common and very good mild flavorful cigar.

Perdomo makes excellent cigars so if you like this one, step up to any of their others.

Olivia Connecticut would be another excellent choice.

So is, Drew Estate Undercrown, and Macanudo Cafe.. Very good

Drew Estate Factory Smokes are good as well. Don't let the price fool you. I always keep a few on hand. For the price, try them all, the Connecticut's, sungrown, and Maduros.

Not gonna lie, the Acid brand cigars are fun and flavorful. Go for under $8

The Acid brand by Drew Estate and Cao brand Cigarillos are legit. Plus, not such a long engagement to have one.

Drew Estate Dulce is a great $10 cigar.

Lot of good cigars out there. For beginners, Connecticuts are best play.

Any of the padron series are solid cigars. 6000 is the best but they are hard to find right now. prices range from $6-$10. They make a natural and maduro of each.

This is what I did long ago. Got a good sampler in with a humidor. I since then tossed the humidor.

I use a Tupperware container. Works great no maintenance. Just toss in a boveda pack

So the cool kids call cigars a “stick”? Got it. Question, can I smoke a stick without wearing my NFL team jersey, or no?

Last Call naturals is a small 52 gauge by 4” cigar that will give you a 30 - 45 minute smoke. It’s not as strong as the maduros and it’s about $6.

Take it slow - wait at least 30 seconds between draws and you should be good. Do NOT inhale it because you’ll probably become green-faced…

This is pretty accurate. Fuente chateau won’t break the bank. Someone mentioned southern draw, great cigar but a boutique so not the easiest to find and not the best starter cigar.

Oliva, Padermo, fuente chateau, and my father should be easy to find and a decent price point, with my father being on the higher end of the others listed.

Start with a Connecticut and delve into other wrappers later.

Pair with a decent bourbon, coffee, scotch, and even chocolate. Cigars are very much like wine. You need to find your tastes.

STAY TF AWAY FROM FLAVORED CIGARS. Acids are trash, just ask Jonathan himself. He made them to fund Liga when he was running lean (he has since sold the DE line and the quality has lacked since).

My personal favorite and I DO NOT suggest them to beginners, is Viaje. The line is a small batch boutique and once that run is gone, it’s really gone. If you like it, buy a lot because you will never see it again unless you stumble upon a humidor where the customers don’t know what they have.

EDIT:

I am not a CAO fan but you can grab a variety for a very reasonable price and experiment a bit. The Amazon is probably their best cigar.

NUBs are a great place to start too.

The Tatuaje Surrogates Series- Tramp Stamp is one of my faves. A Filthy Hooligan from Alec Bradley is pretty good too, but the price has gone up recently.

I think a Macanudo Hampton Court is a good beginner cigar.
This is one of the best of answers to the question.

The original Macanudo line is a solid, consistent cigar with a very mild blend and a lovely mild Connecticut shade wrapper. Many regular cigar smokers have begun their cigar journey with Macanudo.

Similar brands/blends would be Montesino (made by Fuente), Leon Jimenes (if they're still made, I haven't seen one in a good while,) original line La Flor Dominicana.

I hope you enjoy.

These (IMO) are some of the best ones out there. They're not going to break the bank and have a variety of different types. Also, someone posted a link to the food and drink board Cigar thread. Most of the recommendations I have tried from there were great.

E.P. Carrillo Pledge
This has been one of the best ones they have recommended.

Also, if you find a shop in your area they are usually good about helping you out. They can give you some suggestions to start with too.
