All crimes are hate crimes, baw. Trying to discern a person's heart, in order to make certain crimes "more criminal" is silly and counterproductive. Ultimately, all they do is reinforce the notion that blacks are different, inferior and need "special" protection.
I don't care why he did it - he broke society's compact sufficiently to warrant his own death - or life imprisonment if that is the jury's decision.

Nor should they.
Murder is murder. Mass murder is mass murder.

Tigerlee hates black people. But he hasnt killed any.

Depends. His lawyers might request it, but he might also feel safe with the white supremacist faction protecting him. That does exist in most major prisons.
Death row people though usually are separated. I assume SC has death penalty?
The AB will take him in with open arms. He would be fine in Prison. But in Jail.. Jail is where he will get shanked. The AB may be there but it's going to be mostly locals in for short stays. Most likely he will be held in a one or two person holding cell (this is common for rapists, murderers and molesters). They could have a guard who wants him gone who lets him go to gen pop in jail, after letting the prisoners get some time watching the news (you have to think most don't get to catch up with current events)
Prison is too good for him, IMO.

Being mentally ill doesn't mean he gets an insanity defense. It means he's messed up in the head and needed counseling. Really hating black people also shows he's not mentally right.

Murder is by definition a hate crime. You dont need more hatw crime on top of it.

That is a federal law.

He was pulled over because of a traffic stop. Damn.
Wonder if he was still driving the same car.. Seems like there would be an alert out to look for car/license plate # especially in SC, NC, GA.

Cnn says if it's processed as a hate crime at federal level then it is DP eligible
South Carolina doesn't have a death penalty for murder? Of course they do.
Ironically, this is only needed in liberal "paradises" like Massachussetts where Tsarnaev wouldn't be eligible for the death penalty, but for federal legislation.
We know how to put murderers down in the South, y'all.

I'm sorry, I'm confused how you took my post to mean anything different?
I think most violent crimes are perpetrated by people with at least a slight mental illness. That doesn't mean I don't want them punished to the full extent. I don't think, other than severe schizophrenic cases or retardation, should mental illness be an excuse.

I don’t understand the point of this. Will investigating and prosecuting this as a hate crime make the punishment worse than it already is for 9 pre-meditated homicides in a church? We know he did it because he hates black people. We don't need any further evidence of that and don't need to spend any tax payer money further proving that.
Then what is the point of having the law? I think the symbolism and a possible federal conclusion that these acts are not tolerated by THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, meaning all of us, is valuable and shouldn't be avoid. If anything, it's an act of solidarity. That point needs to be hit home, just as we let terrorist aboard know that acts on our country won't be tolerated either

Good question.
I'm getting tired of the national news repeatedly saying "lone wolf attack"

It's all good. I wasn't directing the post at you, just that some will say "well, he's mentally ill, let's fix him".

There isn't one, except to make people like you "feel better".

How about we don't tolerate murder? And he gets put to death? Symbolic enough?
