churches are bringing this on themselves

I have a complex relationship with the Church, I swing from Christian to agnostic sometimes but one the reasons for this has been the Church's abandonment of its morals and principals in favor of catering to the left. Its becoming increasingly hard to take a lot of religious leaders seriously when they openly promote values that go against what is taught in scripture. Or even worse the defending of groups of people like Muslims who would rather see Christianity eradicated then live side by side. The west has been at odds and at war with Islam for over a thousand years and yet you have institutions like the Lutheran and Presbyterian Churches who import these hordes and protect them from the evil white man. This just doesnt sit right with me and after having served as a youth leader on a church youth trip a few years ago seeing a lot of this first hand really soured me on the modern church. Luckily the kids I was watching over didnt buy into the whole "hug a muslim" bullshite that was being peddled but the promotion of your religions adversary at an event designed to make people stronger Christians seems insane to me. Then you have the Catholic church and the heretic at the head of it who is trying his best to use Christianity as a weapon to allow North Africa and the Middle East flood mainland Europe. Literally millions of Europeans have died over the last thousand years in the name of defending Europe and Christianity from the Saracens and now this current pontifex wants to throw that away in the name of political correctness. How the hell is any of this supposed to inspire faith? I have a lot of theological issues with Catholicism but I can set those aside in the name of the greater church but I cannot rectify the defense of the churches enemy. This is obviously both a Catholic and Protestant problem and is not unique to either one.

Christianity is a "personal" belief

Sure doesn't seem it's very "personal" when I'm forced to pretend I'm praying, can't pledge allegiance to my country without also pledging allegiance to "God", have laws on the books stifling personal choices because of the church's influence on politicians, the fact my tax dollars subsidize churches' tax-free existence, have people question my ethics because I don't believe in their fantasy, etc....

It's anything but "personal" in this country.

Explain how your tax dollars are going to churches.

Where and when does this happen? Every blue moon? When your at Grammy and Grandpas house and they are blessing the food? You poor thing. Sorry for your oppression.

of all the things your tax dollars subsidize this is the hill you choose to die on? churches?

somehow I doubt this is the only time or reason people question your personal ethics based on your political viewpoints here

Seems like a bunch of poorly thought out points by mmmmcum to take a shot at religion and faith in this country. Not surprising tho

Pretty amazing it was 70% in the 90s which isn’t far off from what it was in the 40s.

The steep decline in the 2000s can be directly seen in the destruction of society.

Can you expound on this? What exactly do you see as the "destruction of society" in your opinion?

That’s not what he said. Churches (and anyone or entity for that matter) not paying taxes adds burden upon those that do pay.

It also correlates with the massive explosion of the internet where people have had direct access to a wealth of information.

If its a membership then its a business and they need to pay property tax! If the church catches on fire does the FD have to respond since they don't contribute property tax to pay for this service?? biggest scam out there

Somewhat. Facebook has definitely revealed that people I looked up to growing up, many of whom were deeply religious, are flawed and hateful people and use their religion as a cudgel against other people.

So there's that.

Churches are supposed to be non-profits and apolitical. What, exactly, are you taxing?

The Federal Government "subcontracts" refugee relocation to Lutheran and Catholic Charities. Billions of dollars under the Obama Administration.
Ever wonder why so many Somalians ended up in Minnesota?

That's two specific groups. That's not all churches.
