If any boiling of people was done related to soap, Id think he boiled them to make soap. The first set in soap making is to render fat. Then you mix fat with lye and the fats undergo saponification, leaving one with soap.

The empires were not "tribes." They were expanding civilizations that conquered tribes and regions. The most obvious being the Aztecs, a civilization whose foundations were quite literally supported by mass innocent bloodshed. Their religion demanded it and there was certainly no mechanism for cultural advancement.

The Christian West certainly had its share of bloodthirsty SOBs and abusers (and not any more than other major world civilizations in history), but it was founded on 3 things: A religion based on a dude who preached peace and love, the advanced classical civilizations of Hellenistic Europe, and Germanic traditions such as common law and trial by jury. Combine that with Europe's unique geography that did not permit any one ruler to conquer everything and fed its merchant activity. Boom- commerce, finance, exploration, and science.

Even during the darkest period of the so called Dark Ages, Europeans were light years ahead of the indigenous savages in the Americas.

Colombus is one of the great heroes of human civilization and his travels drastically improved not only Western Civilization but made the Western Hemisphere a worthwhile one.

Without Colombus you don't have Western Modernity. Without Western Modernity you have no advanced science, modern medicine, industry, technological revolution, representative government, civil liberties, or goddamn 'Murica. And without the USA, humanity would just be a bunch of pussies bowing to kings and using the metric system.
