The 45 minute drive at 5am, daughters in truck, talking, questioning, scared, worried. Mom is dead and wrapped up and based on video evidence, I think she is in the bed of the truck. Daughters know this. He is freaking out, but he has options. Few options.. but there is a path that does not involve murdering two completely helpless, innocent children. 45 minutes of thought... yet he does it anyway.
It's unfathomable to me as a human being.
This one has hit harder than almost any case I've heard of.
I can't comprehend the mindset it takes to do what he did. Evil is too easy a word to just dismiss it that way. Evil. That's not enough.
As far as your argument JP, I agree. This info is never known with the death penalty on the table.
I'd rather him dead. There is no reasonable doubt here. I'll never be in this situation so I'd be fine with a retro frick You we are going to kill you anyway but I know that isn't the law. But I'd like it to be here.

I'm actually shocked he's not dead yet. They must be keeping him in isolation, because any prisoner that gets a shot at him will take him out.

In my OP and subsequent posts, I struggled with the word "evil". It seems meaningless almost, given the facts. I don't think human language has a word that fits. Perhaps that is a good thing.

hove a splinter under one of his fingernails. Wait. Rip said fingernail off. Wait. Dip it in bleach. Wait. When the nerve endings stop firing. Burn the next nail off. Dip it in everclear. Set said alcohol on fire. Do that with all 20 nails. When that stops. Remove his digits a knuckle at a time. Taking the time to cauterize each wound so he doesn't bleed to death.
I can get more creative as time goes on.
He needs to know fear. Real fear.
Anyone who harms a child needs to be taken apart. Piece by piece.
I'd do things that would make the cartel fear mongers puke.
Why do keyboard jockeys always show up in these threads with their made up torture fantasies?

Stop with this bull shite please
Disturbing shite like this has been happening all over the world forever.
You hear more about it than ever due to technology.
But pretending how deep into whatever religion you prefer makes a difference in the likelihood of something like this happening is asinine.
There are evil people in this world.
Anyone who would do such things is a broken human and should be eradicated.
No religion (or lack thereof), mental illness claims or anything else should determine whether they live or not.

Just out of curiosity how did they know that conversation took place with his oldest daughter?

Good question. They do not KNOW the conversation happened. The mother's family's attorney revealed a recent confession by Chris, made to law enforcement. With any further legal consequences off the table, he felt comfortable revealing it.
Why he'd lie about that? It would only serve to make him more hated by her family, and bring further pain to his parents (also the grandparents). And make the public hate him EVEN more. And probably make the prison population badly want to kick his arse.
He has nothing to gain by revealing it, other than, I suppose, some perceived peace with God.

This is one of those situations where I wish the police or prosecutors would say "Yeah, we lied about that no further consequences stuff."

or at minimum... ok, here's your coffee... OH shite, did I just trip and pour scalding hot coffee in your eyes and face. My bad. Here's a tissue for your skin flaking off.

Can't read that shite. Makes me very sad.
I hope he suffers extreme pain all day, every day for the rest of his fricking, useless life.
Why the hell would anyone downvote this?

Firing squad...and then move on. No complicated schemes to inflict any perceived retribution via pain. I dont need the satisfaction, wont undo anything. Just end him quickly

What needs to happen is swift public justice for cases like this. No torture, no bloodlust, no fanfare for a mob. Calculated, robotic, swift death. No different from taking out the trash. Guilty verdict to death on the courthouse steps in less than 10 minutes. Then back into the courtroom for the next pyscho in line.

Easy man. I won't feed him his own dick until later. You'll have time to blow him.

Great. Let's make that meeting happen.
Wasn't it in the movie Taken where he finally gets to the door where the bad guy is in the room, and someone is standing there, who knows he is going in there to kill the guy, tells Neeson, "you know, only God can judge?" And Neeson responds, "I'm not here to judge, I'm just here to arrange the meet." Love that line.

NOTE: since the murderer was the only one who knew these facts, he would have never revealed them knowing capital punishment was on the table. So I guess this case does become academic at this point.
I thought that for any plea deal to be honored the accused had to be 100% truthful and forthcoming of all the facts? Isn't there a possible loophole for the prosecuter to revoke the plea deal based on the omitted information?

I have a 10 year old. One truly doesn't know what love is until you have a child. I'll NEVER understand how people can do this. It's times like this when I really hope HELL exists.

I am not a lawyer, but I did take a law class for my master's degree.
I am sure that certain aspects of plea dealshave lots of caveats and requirements.
However, once the state charges, convicts, and sentences a murder charge (or multiple murder charges) - plea deal or not - if a few months later the convicted reveals more gruesome details of the crime, then NO, the addition of a death sentence for possible "new" punishment would not be an avenue available. See Fifth Amendment to the U.S. Constitution:
quote:
No person shall be held to answer for a capital, or otherwise infamous crime, unless on a presentment or indictment of a Grand Jury, except in cases arising in the land or naval forces, or in the Militia, when in actual service in time of War or public danger; nor shall any person be subject for the same offence to be twice put in jeopardy of life or limb; nor shall be compelled in any criminal case to be a witness against himself, nor be deprived of life, liberty, or property, without due process of law; nor shall private property be taken for public use, without just compensation.
