Chris Pratt’s prayer request for Kevin Smith attracts Twitter hate mob

quote:

A prayer request for director Kevin Smith by actor Chris Pratt sparked anger and derision early Monday among a throng of Twitter users. The 47-year-old director of “Clerks” narrowly avoided death Sunday after a heart attack, but his Hollywood peers failed to escape a religious debate on prayer after wishing him a speedy recovery. Mr. Pratt tweeted a heartfelt message, but the anger it elicited prompted friend and “Guardians of the Galaxy” director James Gunn to intervene.

Society is broken if this is what people are losing their shite over.

Society is broken when people start to think internet trolls represent all of society.

Only thing I got out of whatever I briefly read through is that James Gunn is an idiot.

ETA: As is most of the people here. WTF does the shooting in parkland have to do with Kevin Smith having a heart attack? He's just as bad as the ones attacking Chris Pratt.

Then you can't read.

Gunn was defending Pratt.

A prayer thread on here never gets those types of response. Regardless of what we all are and how we can generally disparage one another we can still have respect for each other at least in times of want, hurt and need and it’s one thing I like about this place. Might just be a Southern thing.

If we are to survive as a society we must be able to have civil discourse something that is quickly disappearing.

Social Media Backlash is the scourge of the earth.

It reminds of the Grey Goo hypothesis as the inevitable world destroyer caused by molecular nanotechnology.

It disintegrates everything in its path.

Twitter has to be one of the single worst things the internet has given us. There's been hundreds of stories similar to this one stemming from that site. At this point you have to expect shite like this especially if you're a celebrity. Solution: get off twitter.

I'll be honest. Any time I see prayer requests on FB or here I roll my eyes pretty hard but I would never criticize someone publicly for asking or participating.

If he had just said “thoughts and prayers to Kevin Smith,” and ghosted, then I could see giving him a hard time, but he sent a thoughtful message of support and a personalized get well note. Nothing wrong with that.

That it’s even a thing just shows how close the Earth is to spinning off its axis.

Morons like these people have always been out there. The problem is now they have been given a voice by social media and CNN/msnbc.

The problem with Twitter is that it's way too easy to get dogpiled. Say something perceived as wrong to the wrong person, even constructive, can cause the hivemind to jump on you.

Best thing is to never apologize. Even better is to kill with kindness.

I'm amazed that there are people that haven't figured out how to ignore "stories" that use the word Twitter, tweet, or facebook.
