they should allow african migrants to go fill up those empty cities
No shite, only downside would be how incredibly strong China would become from the injection of "diversity."

No. Put the migrants in one (and only one) city and come back after a decade to see how thriving it is, how clean it is and how well maintained the infrastructure is.
Africa's population is projected to increase by 150% by 2100. Seems a good source for migrants. China is already raping the continent for resources. Why not labor?

It’s because diversity is their strength.

Ghost towns don't look immaculate for very long.

China is image over substance.

I will live in a ghost city.
No crime, no traffic, no noise, less of those we don’t speak of, no lines

They’re not the only ones. There’s a tech-focused site Ive been a member of for years, and starting with the Dubya re-election, the left leaning side of the site started going completely moonbat. As you can imagine, they started accelerating to outright lunacy when 2016 happened. One of the characteristics of that crowd was their move from a kind of Left Libertarianism to outright Jacobin-style revolutionaries. One of the consequences has been an embrace of central planning to fix all of mans ills. And China is indeed a favorite. Any mention of the Ghost Cities and they start frothing, insisting that there ARE no more ghost cities, that they’ve largely been filled thanks to the wise leadership of the Chinese Communist Party , and that we should be doing that stuff here

the government will just force them to move there eventually

I’m thinking Chyna needs an influx of people who bring happiness and harmony to pre-built low/no cost neighborhoods.
Citizens who could bring cultcha to such a desolate place.
Imagine a society where everyone gets along and there is no “disrespek”.
Just one question…. any b-ball courts in these areas?

China already has its Muslims. They put them into re-education and sterilization camps.

But aren’t the low birth rates due to central socialist planning? You know, the whole “one child” policy?
The One Child Policy compounded the problem, but the biggest issue was urbanization. Nobody wants to raise 4 kids in a 800 square foot condo in Shanghai.

This has less to do with central socialist planning and more to do with population collapse due to low birth rates. Also, since investment opportunities are limited in China, everyone invested in housing, thinking that it would continue to appreciate. Unfortunately, it was a flawed economic model that was allowed primarily to keep Chinese workers occupied and getting paid instead of revolting. Now that the construction sector is collapsing, Chinese unemployment is on the rise and the CCP is going to have to pay the fiddler.
I have been hearing that for a decade. China has always been planning for the next birthing boom, but when they clamped down on the one child policy and favored boys instead of girls. That is leaving them in on a seesaw of propulation growth that is starting to go negative.
The US is in the same boat as couples decide to have fewer than two children that leaves population growth to stagnate and start reducing the number of future citizens. With fewer future citizens, that leads to declining growth economically unless some other industry revitalizes the economic cycle. The last 30 years in the US has seen a growth in government services and new government entities, but that will one day come home to roost too. Areas that may have needed 10 schools, may now only need 5, and you have 5 empty schools that are no longer needed. Some of this is due to migration where people are moving due to economic reason, like high insurance costs, or job opportunities elsewhere.
But the sad part is how our Social Security and Pension system is dependent on exponential growth new residents and children. As fewer and fewer future workers enter the work force or are needed, that will lead to fewer and fewer payers are paying into the system to support current and future benefits.

Exactly.
I guess one could split hairs and say that restricting child births isn’t exactly a tenant of Marxism, but top-down control of the economy (including consumption, which was the point of the policy) is.
It will be interesting to see what happens to China over the next generation since they obviously can’t unring that bell.

He wondered what it must feel like to work in these vast, vacant towers: “Imagine going to the office knowing that every floor from bottom to top is empty.”
This is every downtown in American cities.
Went to visit a friend whose firm has an entire floor at at bank building. I hit the wrong button and got off on 6 instead of 7. The entire floor was empty, I mean not a soul or stick of furniture. Unsettling.

I know some Chinese well. Great people. Interesting place. Most of their civilized parts hug the coast. Everywhere else is Mississippi
