I’d rather die trying to save my kid than having to live the rest of my life knowing I left them behind.

I would have died with him. I wouldn’t want to live if I left and he died. No way.

She said that in the video. More the reason to question why she did not have a plan and have neighbors help her.
Yeah she wanted him dead. She’s a ghoul. I’m sure her son told her “yeah mom, I want to die in a raging fire.”

That's tough. He probably wanted to die though. Can't move and can't see would be tough.
Yeah. Probably realized his quality of life wasn't great. And at 32...didn't want his mom to die struggling to save him.
Kind of heroic on his part. Awful death though
ETA: if that's how it actually happened at least

Guess she's never heard of a fire blanket.
What good would a fire blanket have done?

Wait. How long of a timeframe are we talking here? Because initially I was thinking the flames were right there she's struggling or something heroically to no avail and he's all "just go mom, I love you. I'm ready."
But if the fire wasn't actively burning their house down she could have done more than just give up after calling 911.
Could have run around trying to find anyone able bodied enough to move him. And wouldn't he be in an OweO chair or something?
The more I think about it the more this stinks to high heaven. Now it's more of, "oh mylanta this will be a burden. Oh well poopsie the flames will be here in about half an hour. I'll send someone if I can. Ciao! I'll think of you when I'm in Greece!"
ETA? And these fires have been burning how long? From the get go everyone should at least have an evacuation plan, especially someone with special needs

I’m sure if people are literally running for their lives, a neighbor has his hands full with his own family. This isn’t a hurricane where you have some time. In this situation, every precious second matters.

That’s a tough read. If anyone thinks they may have it bad, just think about this guy..
To read that from you at this time in your life is inspiring. Thank you for setting an example.

I wouldn’t be surprised if she made up what he “said” and just left him for the life insurance money.

Same. Decided to save herself and snuck out the back door.

Since no one else did, I looked him up.
Child star is misleading, he wasn’t in anything. He did a couple of episodes of a kids show as host, and was a disabilities advocate.
He was also 6’5”

So he was just some blind kid with CP and had a small number of charity bits.
Wasn't like he was rolling in residuals. Their money must have come from something else

You know what none of those tales of, adrenaline filled, acts of supernatural strength from mothers in a crisis include?
Giving up without trying…
There’s a chance I would have died trying to pull him out and I don’t even know who he is.

Something isn’t right. There was a way to move him.
So they panicked and didn’t use his wheel chair?

Nope. This is super suspect. I would drag my child before leaving him behind for a death by torture. F this "mom". Also the fires have been going for days, how the hell did she not leave in more than enough time?

Probably another step in the exploitation of her disabled son…now she’s got some life insurance coming down the chute…congrats lady, you are living the life you always thought you were entitled to.

I was about to ask if I’m the only one who’s never heard of the guy.

Mom was tired of taking care of him and found a way to get rid of him without it looking too obvious... plus life insurance.
