I'm guessing death of Scalia? Is anything else going on?

They've also done it to honor veterans and 9/11.

Because they actually love their country and honor it by doing what they're supposed to do.

I saw one here in Alabama this morning and I thought it was for Harper Lee.

YGTBFKM. Scalia was probably one of the 5 best Justices if not the best of all time

I'm curious which groups are glad he died so that a liberal justice could take his place?

I can think of one. Hint he wasn't at the funeral.

Not as many as you would think. He was a mothefricker and he hated the supreme court for what it had become. The people who were up in arms over his same sex marriage dissent didn't bother reading it.

Agree with him or not, the dude kept it real. Too bad he shared your namesake or else we might have been able to hold onto him a little while longer. I have a feeling he would have died on that bench just to spite whoever was in office.

quote:

a system of government that makes the People subordinate to a committee of nine unelected lawyers does not deserve to be called a democracy.

quote:

The Court’s “naked judicial claim to legislative—indeed, super-legislative—power” bulldozed the right of the People to self-government

quote:

Take, for example, this Court, which consists of only nine men and women, all of them successful lawyers who studied at Harvard or Yale Law School. Four of the nine are natives of New York City. Eight of them grew up in east-and west-coast States. Only one hails from the vast expanse in-between.

It's half-staff, not half-mast.

Come the frick on. Justice Scalia was 79 years old. He might have been a little overweight but I wouldn't say he died because he was FAT.

A few of my neighbors fly the flag and they have theirs at half mast. It's pretty awesome
