Seems a non-issue. They are located in these specialty locations that are specifically located for traveler convenience. If CFA can't meet their requirements, they will just be replaced. No different from a university deciding to mandate that they must be open 7-days a week in a student union.

I would think the enjoyment of travelers 6 days a week would far outweigh angst on one day.

If they forced them to move, I’d love to see revenue for the entire stop over the next year.

CFA on an exit probably brings extra people to that exit than would otherwise stop, and they get gas, etc. I bet revenue would go down overall.

The Chickfilas in question are in state owned "travel centers" and not all Chickfilas in NY would be affected. But its just a proposed bill and still has to pass the Leg.

On the NY Turnpike it kindof does.

These aren't standalone locations like you are thinking.

Being open on Sunday is no different than requiring the management company to contract with vendors that provide kosher/vegetarian/gluten-free meals.

While they're at it, why doesn't New York also limit sales to only people of color. If it can make it there it can make it any where.

Imagine if they wrote contracts that forced the gas stations to be open 24/7.

Would be so un-American.

This is a horribly written article. Lots of errors and they assume we know who Applegreen is?

quote:

Applegreen is required to have at least one hot and cold food option available 24 hours a day at all locations.

I tried using context clues but there is a lot of missing information. Can't they get one of the other tenants to provide the required options on Sundays, or is CFA the only restaurant in the plaza? Can they use those fancy vending machines full of salads, fruit cups, and something heatable, maybe soup?

Like those LWNJ clowns have ever balked at passing legislation that violates constitutional rights.

If it did it would instantly be struck down, even in NY.

Precious how naive you are, the NY courts have certainly upheld unconstitutional laws until they were struck down at higher levels

the bill will require Chick-fil-A eateries at New York State Thruway service plazas to be open seven days a week. All Chick-fil-A restaurants are closed on Sundays.

OP's title is misleading. These only apply to locations at state hwy plazas which area small service developments on state owned land. These service plazas typically have a gas station and one maybe two restaurants at each location. The article states one hot and one cold food option. It would be asinine for the state to allow a tenant that is awarded the contract to not be open on Sundays. Pretty dumb of Chic Fil A to think they could get those high demand spots and not be open on Sunday.

I've been told that Chick Fil A is one of about 7 vendors.
I've been told that Chick fil a brings in more revenue and tax dollars in 6 days than any of the other vendors in 7 days.

If I've been misinformed, I'm sorry.

Too much government control in private businesses. If I were Chick-fil-A, I would close them down.

Chick fil a has stores inside at least one NFL stadium and they arent open on Sunday.

I don't think NYers understand Chick fil a's conviction.

CFA’s are insanely busy. They could earn significant revenue on Sunday, but decided not to open.

They aren’t going to change that for some political demand.
