Some states actually own the truck stops/travel stops along their tunpikes. At least PA does. They lease space to restaurants in a food court and pay a management company to keep the shared dining area, restaurants, and grounds clean. I presume that's where CFA is being targeted for the most part. So here is my $0.02:
If the state is leasing space in their turnpike stops to CFA and the lease requires that the restaurant be open 24/7, then CFA should know better than signing that lease given their business model is to stay closed on Sundays. Mistake is on them if they signed a lease that requires them to be open on those days.
If the state does not have an ironclad lease that requires that the business be open those hours - the state is making a petulant, political demand that could also be a religious rights violation. This would most likely get challenged in and slapped down in the courts.
However- the message is clear. CFA should start scoping out alternative locations that they fully own/control because they are probably going to eventually get bullied out of state-owned property for entirely political reasons. And their vacant spaces will be replaced by business more cozy with the local politicians.
I propose that CFA just pull out of that shite hole state and invest in locations closer to me where they would be greatly appreciated. CFA's in this region are insanely busy, but are frustratingly few and far between.

This bill will not withstand a legal challenge.

It is not so much about attacking CFA's Christian undertones, but NY and California are actively trying to break down the delineation of CFA Corporate and the independent local Owner/Operator. If they do that, then CFA Corporate can be sued, not just the restaurant. Much deeper pockets at Corporate obviously.

Hilarious
NY liberals hate chik fil a because of the founders stance on certain topics.
NU liberals want to force chik fil a to be open7 days a week.
You can’t make this up

They're not open in airports on Sunday, either. I think this is just two D lawmakers with a personal vendetta against CfA.
If CFA was a prominent Muslim business refusing to open during Ramadan or whatever, anyone think these two Dems would be filing this bill?

I'll bet that almost no one here knows WHY Chick Fil A is closed on Sundays. It ain't so employees can be home with their families as they claim...it so employees, and especially contractor employees, can do maintenance and clean them up. Always has been that way. I have sat in meetings in their corporate offices and heard this directly from the horses mouth. It became such a trope that it was so their workers could be home with their families that the good will earned from the public is fare more important than the time required to keep them clean and maintained but there is almost ALWAYS a crew of someone doing something inside a location on Sundays.
You... are an idiot.
I don't care if you heard it yourself.
Restaurants clean after close. Every damn one.
They don't dedicate a day a week.
Have you ever sat in a meeting for a non-chick-fil-a restaurant?
Have you ever closed down a restaurant late at night?

I'd love to see them not challenge it and just close.
They want to kick CFA out of that location via legislation. "Manipulation of procedural outcomes"

You don't do major maintenance and deep cleaning every night. One of the things that makes CFA unique is the level of cleanliness and the high quality of facilities. That work is performed on Sundays by contractors. I have worked on both ends of the contract and there is no ambiguity over it in College Park.

Not even close to what is actually wrote in the article.

Compared to Popeyes? Sure.
There isn't a monopoly on clean bathrooms at Chick fil a.
By the way... if you are deep cleaning the bathrooms once a week, you are doing it wrong.

You keep using that term.
In restaurants, they are called the "cleaning crew". And yes, they are contracted to do the work. Lol

You are basing a 55 year old history of Chick Fil A based on your time in college park?
You do realize that other restaurants figured out how to clean their stores without closing once a week during that time span?

Chic fil A should respond:
"ok we will do it, and we will have a special menu for Sundays only. Every item is $10,000. You want a #1 combo, sandwich, fries, and a drink? That will be $30,000, cash or card? Also all proceeds from any sales will go to Christin charities".

Sounds like someone is paying these legislators to make this bill in order for those spots to come open and to be filled with the company that is paying off the legislators.
Maybe but this is New York. This could just be an attack on Christianity, since Chick-fil-A is so open about their beliefs

They’ll pull stores over it. NY lawmakers proving how looney they are.
