FTR, I have spent a lot of time in Chicago. Whole the touristy areas are great, there is nothing stopping "wild outs" I didn't given time.
Furthermore, cost of living in taxes are insane. Nice area of visit, not to live.

I love Chicago. I've done a couple of dad+1 trips with a kid and had a blast. Gino's East pizza, elevated train to Wrigley, Segway tours, river tours, miracle Mile if shopping has to be included, etc.
