Poltergeist anyone?

quote:

The $70 million school is to be built on the grounds of a former Cook County Poor House where an estimated 38,000 people were buried in unmarked graves. Among the dead are residents who were too poor to afford funeral costs, unclaimed bodies and patients from the county's insane asylum

Bad move. Like Mississippi State, they'll never win a championship.

The school mascot HAS to reference this. I'm thinking something like:

Spirits
Ghosts
Demons

It would be really cool for those kids to learn their mascot acutally references the property's history.

ETA: "Chicago's Dunning neighborhood"

Dunning Demons!

As opposed to other places in Crook County where the mobs or gangs disposed of victims?

Decaying matter. I wonder how many buildings in the US are built on unmarked graves. People and their unfounded superstition.

The current UMMC (Ole Miss med school and hospital) in Jackson is still locating grave sites around their property from the 1800s. Hundreds at least. Held up some big expansion project a few years ago.

Edit: Actually up to 7000 as described in the linked article. Same situation - former insane asylum.

Infestation of crazy dead people

38,000 potential ghosts?
Let’s say a Twinkie represents the normal amount of psychokinetic energy in the Chicago area. Based on this information and the disruption of this resting place, the amount of PKE would be a Twinkie thirty-five feet long, weighing approximately six hundred pounds.
