Call their bluff. Send out notices that they will be terminated and their pensions will be forfeited. They will be back in no time.

I'd have three words for them.

The first is You

The second is Are

The third is Fired.

Heard there are some pipeliners looking for work?

I can’t tell if you’re being facetious or if you’re an ACTUAL pussy.

sounds like here in NC, they refuse to go back. We hear there is a upcoming lawsuit against the schoolboards because they have no real answer on why they are not opening up.

It's sarcasm. But the sad part is there is a very large number of people in this country who believe exactly what he said.

This country needs to be flushed.

What the frick is wrong with these stupid mother frickers? Do they actually think they will catch COVID from a kid and get sick and die? I guess every other worker in every other industry should refuse to go to work as well. frick those teachers. They just want to sleep in and relax at home and do some bullshite virtual teaching while still collecting a full paycheck and benefits.

It has nothing to do with this. It's about them being able to continue to half-arse their job remotely while still collecting their full paychecks. They don't give two fricks about the kids or what this is doing to them.

It's the government employee way.

So damn glad I live in Texas where teachers are the complete opposite of these morons. I’m sure they’d fit in well over in r/teachers. These people think COVID19 is around every corner and it’s a 100% death rate

We’ve already been told virtual won’t be an option next year which should help alleviate my wife’s stress. That at home kids are definitely further behind and there’s not much she can do to help. The in person kids of hers are all doing fantastic.

bullshite. Reagan fired ALL of the air traffic controllers (about 13,000) and airplanes didn't fall flaming out of the air and the world didn't end. Flights were canceled and air traffic slowed for a few months, but lo and behold, their jobs aren't as specialized as one would think and they pretty quickly either were returned to work or were replaced.

The only president to head a labor union broke a labor union.

Chicago "can't" fire these teachers because the administration doesn't have the balls (or most likely, the desire) to treat subordinates like subordinates.

I'm torn. On the one had I dislike Teachers Unions, and lazy teachers. On the other hand I love the unintended consequences that those in political power have to now deal with because of their choice to frick the people they are supposed to represent so they can go all in on OMB.

I would be 100% in favor of keeping a virtual option post-COVID. Let other teachers take those jobs to teach virtual. And then use that option for students who are huge behavioral issues.

Suspended for throwing a chair at your teachers? Here's your eSchool ID and password. We're still providing you a public education. Let their parent/guardian figure it the frick out if their kid can't behave.

Great idea and one I've tossed around as well (not the behavioral piece, but the option)

Give teachers and students alike an option. Pay the in-person teachers more using a % docked from the virtual teachers.

But that's exactly what the Union is fighting for. Doing half (or less) of the job you had to do for in-person teaching, yet maintaining your full pay.

There’s 21,000 teachers in their main district alone. You can’t replace that many, and despite narratives, those your would replace them with weren’t working already for a reason.

Remember this when these same people scream “privilege” about private school graduates in a few years.
