Shitty situation all around.
Eta
But to address the title of this thread, the people of Chicago would be supremely hypocritical to riot over this if they don’t riot over the hundreds of murders they have had this year.

I don't think that's true.
Looks like there were 163 through April 14, probably more up to date numbers out there

There is one dude on here defending it. Go ahead and chuckle at one guy because most of us are not.
This is not an isolated instance.

Ah, THIS IS SO CLEAR HIS RIGHT HAND DOESNT HAVE A GUN
You realize by arguing it wasn't clear whether the kid had a gun, you're actually showing why it was a bad shoot, right?

Based on everything I've seen on this, that cop's arse is grass, and for a good reason.

is that not clear enough for you?

Sorry it was 585 people shot. Now up to 864
Only 128 died.
Only 128 died.

It’s not. 131 for the first three months of 2021, but let’s not bring facts to the table. That Facebook meme said there was over 500, so that must be true

Corrected myself before you could.

690,000 cops in the usa with a gun. You run from them and resist arrest, there's going to be some perps dying that shouldn't have been shot. We can't expect perfection, don't resist arrest or run from the police.
I understand mistakes happen and cops aren't perfect. Is it too much to ask for accountability and for people to be held accountable when they make said mistakes?

Further, my view is from a shitty body cam. The cop really has no excuse here. Trying to defend this is a waste of time and just makes you look like an actual boot-licker.

That's horrible to watch. Just a kid man. I've got one that age and it made me tear up.

That's still really fricked up. Almost 1000 people shot in a "gun free" city. Gun control sure does work

Why would an officer shoot at something he couldn't see clearly? Isn't that one of the cardinal rules of gun safety?

if 585 people have been killed in Chicago in 2021 that'd be more than 5 a day.
But it is Chicago, so maybe?

Thats my point. Yet police are the real problem.

This is a bad take. If you can't see then you don't shoot. That's a standard gun rule, regardless of who you are. Cop or civilian. That cop fricked up bad. No other way around it. Charges will and should be pressed.
