Suspected of being involved in a shooting is more accurate. He did have a gun in the area a shooting occurred.
Fair enough.

That’s a pretty grainy image for a body cam and it definitely looks like his hand is empty. I would hope the cops vision is better than a go pro.
Like I said earlier, that helicopter strobe light did no favors.

"Even if you do exactly what a cop asks, having a gun makes the situation unsafe enough that a shooting would be justified"
I wonder how many people defending this shooting were saying that Army lieutenant should've just reached into the car to take his seatbelt off like they told him to.

The lil thug wasn’t unarmed he had a gun in his right hand and pointed it at the cop. I’m glad he’s dead

Putting "police should shoot anyone holding a gun in case they decide not to drop it" in my notes.
This is usually the response of gun loving conservatives.
I chuckle at this as well.
*I'm not your normal conservative.

There is one dude on here defending it. Go ahead and chuckle at one guy because most of us are not.

Imma let you die on this hill alone unfortunately.
Even worse, the only thing that's going to prevent these things is just to let perps walk from now on.
690,000 cops in the usa with a gun. You run from them and resist arrest, there's going to be some perps dying that shouldn't have been shot. We can't expect perfection, don't resist arrest or run from the police.

It's a still photo you dumbass
And an officer in pursuit of a suspect with a gun who had already fired said gun has a fricking split second to react
The judgement being placed on him seems so ridiculous to me in the specific instance

quote:At that point, what could the kid have done to not get shot? He did exactly what the officer asked, right before getting shot.
The officer shot him the second he turned around
I hear shots almost instantly as his hands go up
So unless the officer saw him ditch the gun, im not sure how yall are so mad
I'm still tired of criminals getting no blame in these situations when they are shot by police, but this kid did what was asked and then still got shot

since you didn’t see it the first time smh
is that not clear enough for you?

I said the kids hands were clearly in the air, I didn't say anything about a gun or whether one was visible
if that's even what you are referring to, if not I have no clue what you are trying to get at

I’m updating the standards to reflect:
comply and also make sure you do not have a small grainy still shot photo that makes it hard to tell for sure that you don’t have a gun

"Why should an officer be able to tell if someone's holding a gun in person when I cant tell from a 300 pixel image?!"

But when you watch it in real time, that's the flash you get as he turns around.
I had zero knowledge of this case prior to 5 minutes ago. Started reading here about an unarmed kid getting shot. Then watched the video...
...and it's terribly unfortunate, but the light, his dark clothes and the motion as he's turning around makes that 1/2 - second still appear to be a gun.
And then as I read some more it turns out the kid did have a gun prior?
