Again. I don't disagree with any of that. I'm not arguing that the kid was completely innocent and handled it perfectly. He was fleeing a crime scene.

But in the same thought, the cop did not yell sufficient orders and did not allow enough time for the kid to comply with those orders.

There wasn’t enough time to yell sufficient orders. Watch the full video AUCE posted.

Kill fleeing criminals first, sort out details and level of innocence or guilt later. Flawless system.

It’s irrelevant dude. He could have said do a back flip or he could have said nothing. Gun in hand, quickly turning towards cop. How does this not compute?

CBS edited out the gun. They should be liable for shite like that.

Right. It all happened very fast. There wasn't really enough time for all the things you listed as well, which obviously is on the kid.

After watching that video though, that is the first time I realized that the kid pulled the gun out of the back of his pants, as I thought he had it in his hands the entire time. That action changes my views slightly, as the hand moving back to reach for the gun is an aggressive action.

That minor detail changes my opinion more in the favor of the cop.

Thanks for the video.

just think that if a cop is going to yell orders to someone, he has to at least give the kid a chance to comply with those orders.
He did

When the kid disobeyed orders and turned with the gun it’s time to shoot

see my above post

I still think some of y'all's arguments are dumb and/or wrong, but the fact that he reached to grab the gun changes the scenario for me.

Is there a longer video that includes more prior to the shooting? As in when the pursuit started? The cop very may well have yelled more orders?

Again though, expected orders to be crystal clear in these times is really just not realistic for them to be perfect. The kid had a game plan the whole time: run away until he can find a place to stash the gun, then give in if he can’t escape. As soon as he ran himself into a corner and had somewhere to toss the gun, he did so. But in the manner he did it, the appearance looked aggressive. I don’t think anything the officer said would have changed anything.

Some of you. Go be a cop. Chase someone down the street who is known to have a gun, have them turn on you and then just wait. If you don't die, it's all good, right?

Thanks for the video.

This is why I try not to comment on any of this shite until we at least have video. Too many people in this thread reacted to a single still-frame from a video that the media decided to release. That is a millisecond in time, which is nowhere near enough information to form an educated opinion.

The PD did a good job this time releasing all the video they had in a timely fashion. That is one thing many have demanded. Still, too many can watch all that video, yet ignore what they see in favor of feelings and emotions. Quite a few in this thread have changed their opinion and stated they were wrong. A few others will never do such a thing because it goes against every fiber of their being.

Clearly had a gun and ran.

End of story.

You mean handle it the way the NM cop handled the situation on his traffic stop.....that kinder gentler manner earned him a 5.56 hole through his brain.

Why do black people STILL think they can break the law and not except that something bad may happen to them??????? Out of all the cop shootings and or the deaths of black people, if the victim was just not breaking the law in the first place none of these things happen. It seems that a lot of people ONLY look at the final result instead of taking the WHOLE event into consideration.....

I just broke it down into an equation the bleeding heart liberals may.....just may understand!

Nah, it's overwhelmingly better to society to kill these thugs on the spot and be done with it.
